Looks like our route has a stop-off in Thailand. While I know we visited this nation in our last Globetrot Trivia Tour, it would be foolish of us not to take the opportunity to visit the city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. This beautiful city of temples, greenery, and elephant sanctuaries sits on the Ping River and boasts not only Thailand's highest mountains, but one of the nation's oldest zoos. Formerly a Siam kingdom, Chiang Mai's rich history, delicious cuisine, and Buddhist structures make it a beautiful destination. Reply #68. Mar 31 18, 10:12 AM |

Challenges are always appealing, but the one thing I tell people who take on that many titles (or much less, in some cases) is that the Lounge isn't going anywhere. Challenges open and close continuously. For as many quizzes as I've written, I opt out of certain challenges as a matter of course because as soon as it becomes an obligation to dip your toes into every one of them, it does become stressful. I don't condone writing because one has to, but instead because they want to. If you're feeling stressed, I would recommend pulling back. In the case of claimed challenge titles: if you're not planning to get to them any time soon, maybe someone else is interested in those titles and blocked from completing them. I don't at all mean it to be discouraging, but I have seen people bite off more than they can chew in the past. Reply #72. Apr 01 18, 10:58 AM |

I have something to point out. In the first Globetrotter, Kyle said that the challenge was for people to write about topics which can be linked with the destination. For example, her quiz 'Sacred Mountains' is about well, sacred mountains. Uluru does feature in the quiz, but the quiz is not solely about Outback. From the majority of quizzes written, it seems more like Bus Ride Reloaded. That is also an excellent thing. FunTrivia is getting lots of locale-specific quizzes. Say, the quizzes which are directly about the destination, e.g., 1nn1's quiz on the Opera House. So, there seem to be two distinct classes of quizzes that have been written so far. Ponycargirl's two quizzes on Sydney illustrate that. Reply #74. Apr 01 18, 11:02 PM |

Some of us are more literal and prosaic than others of us, so some quizzes are more creative in their association with the stop. But they all add to the site's pool of quality quizzes! Riding the Rails Across Australia has just been submitted for the Outback. I had to wait until the Bus Ride had left Timor Leste so that I could address the CN I sent myself on that quiz before I could set up a new template. I hadn't ever let a correction hang around long enough to realise that the system won't let you set up a new quiz with an outstanding correction, and I had to take the quiz offline to fix the images, so had to twiddle my thumbs (and write the Hong Kong quiz) while I waited. And A Countess from Hong Kong has been submitted. My writing binge must come to an end shortly, but I will start to contemplate our next destination - since it's totally unfamiliar to me, there is a lot of scope for some research in search of inspiration. :) Reply #76. Apr 02 18, 2:09 AM |

Regarding my Outback quiz, I considered that a lot of people were writing directly about the Outback as a whole; instead of covering the same ground (I've never been to AUS, but some of the writers here live there), I decided to hone in on one aspect of it, not unlike what I did for the opera house. I'm going to go even weirder for Hong Kong; I promise. Also-- Kyle is a he. Reply #79. Apr 02 18, 6:49 AM |
