Thanks, Ruby. Maybe I'll give the series another try. I listened to the first one a while back and didn't really care for it, but it could have been the narrator. I should try reading instead on the second book.

I just checked, Ruby, and the ones I have access to (at Overdrive through my local library) are unabridged.

Anyway, I checked out the 2nd one, Tears of the Giraffe, in eBook form in case it was the narrator which put me off. Sometimes that does with audio books. It will be several days before I get a chance to start it, but have it for three weeks.
