When he and Krim attempted to steal some roast meat from some humans, Skot got badly burned in the ensuing scuffle. On the ride back to the Holt, he made the above comment to Pike - who had come to his lifemates' aid.
Sadly, it was a comment of foreshadowing, as the "Shards" storyline, had already established that Skot would indeed go on to die by fire.

After encountering the exiled human couple, Cutter decided to help the pair reunited with Adar's tribe, in part because Nonna had revealed that she knew about elves.

At the same time, she also subtly indicated that she knew about Madcoil, the monster that had killed Cutter's parents, and several other elves.
Madcoil had been killed when the Wolfrders trapped them under a net.

Ember, who was only around eight at the time, suggested that Strongbow could simply seek out Kureel's spirit in the Palace and ask for forgiveness.
