Answer: Moss was oozing out of them

The bricks were so old moss was "oozing" out of them. The school children often slipped on them.

2. What is the school's motto?

Answer: "Remember you will die"

The motto is "Memento Mori" which is a Latin phrase that means "Remember you will die". That is a rather unusual motto for a school, but not for this book!

3. What classroom is Sunny in?

Answer: None, she works with Principal Nero

Sunny is a baby so they made her work with Principal Nero so she could do something.

4. What is the annoying thing Principal Nero does to people?

Answer: He mocks them

Principal Nero even mocked the Baudelaires the very first time he met them! He's so proud of himself. He plays the violin and thinks he's a genius.

5. What sound does the fungus on the ceiling of the orphan shack make when it hits the ground?

Answer: Plop

There is a tan fungus growing on the ceiling which the Baudelaires have to keep dodging to avoid getting hit. To get rid of it, they sprinkled salt on it.
