Eustace recalls his first ever experience on a ship as he is looking at the picture on the wall in Lucy's bedroom. His life experiences at that point had been rather narrow, but nonetheless left him with an unearned feeling of superiority. His trip to the Isle of Wight had been his ONLY trip on a boat and the water had been choppy enough to make it an unpleasant time for him.

They gave those giants a good beating--well, good enough that the giants pay Narnia tribute now. It has been threee years since the last visit of the Pevensie siblings to Narnia (from the Narnia perspective anyway). For the Pevensies, their visit was a year later than their previous trip to Narnia ("Prince Caspian"). Caspian has made a vow to sail into the east to find the seven Telmarine nobles who had previously done so, pressured by his late uncle, Miraz.

Narrowhaven is the capital of the Lone Islands and Felimath and Doorn are the name of two of the islands. Caspian, Edmund, Lucy, Eustace, and Reepicheep have taken advantage of being near some land after days of being on the boat. They plan to walk across one of the islands and meet up with the ship on the other side.

Their adventures on the island include being briefly captured by slavers and meeting Lord Bern, one of the seven nobles.

There were also letters, dossiers and ink-pots on the table. All of those things were on the Governor's desk, but no letter openers. The disordered state of the desk of the governor, Gumpas, matches the general disorder of the administration of the Lone Islands in general. Not long after his desk is upended, Gumpas himself is dismissed from office.

This was the first occasion since they had left the Lone Islands that Eustace wrote in his diary. The two weeks before Eustace's diary entry were pretty stormy. The weather had just concluded thirteen days and nights of a hurricane. The September 3 entry in the diary is the first of several where we are treated to a large dose of Eustace's rather unpleasant personality.

Answer: Dragon

It takes some time for Eustace to realize he had transformed into a dragon. His previous education had not stretched his imagination to include the concept of a dragon. Before he had transformed, Eustace had placed the golden bracelet on his arm and encountered a dying dragon.

The general narrative of the story suggests that the dragon was a transformed Lord Octesian (one of the seven lords). Another possibility is that the dragon had killed/eaten Octesian.

Eustace spent several days as a dragon before being transformed back. Aslan, the lion himself, transformed Eustace at night under the moonlight. He used his claw to peel away the thick, knobby dragon skin from the young boy. Eustace himself had attempted to peel off the skin several times but had only been able to remove thinner layers.

Answer: Eustace broke it

The entire crew had been challenging an enormous sea serpent. The serpent had literally encircled the "Dawn Treader", seemingly to snap it in two. Eustace, in one of the first brave acts of his life, struck the serpent with Caspian's sword--likely to injure the animal or to convince it to release the ship.

The end result was a broken sword. Later, Caspian teases him about this in the next novel, "The Silver Chair".

This was said by the Chief of the Dufflepuds when he tries to intimidate Caspian and the others at first meeting them. The other Dufflepuds comically agree with him. The Dufflepuds get their name from the large foot each has. Before being transformed that way, their appearance was similar to that of dwarves. Strange-looking or not, the Dufflepuds are invisible at first when Caspian and the others encounter them.

Answer: Marjorie and Anne

Lucy was eavesdropping on them! Though she felt kindly towards Marjorie at first, hearing her gossip fixed that soon enough. Lucy was able to eavesdrop on them due to a spell she found in the magician's spell book. To be fair, Lucy fell to the temptation of casting that spell after being able to resist the temptation of others. Perhaps I am more forgiving towards Lucy as I feel that she was hard pressed to resist the temptation.
