"Wolfwalkers" is an award-winning animated fantasy adventure film with Honor Kneafsey and Sean Bean voicing the Goodfellowe hunters. Final film in an Irish folklore trilogy by filmmaker Tomm Moore, the father and daughter hunters come to Ireland to wipe out the last pack of wolves in the mid-17th century. It doesn't go according to plan.

Chris Hemsworth stars in the action thriller "Extraction", based on the 2014 graphic novel "Ciudad" by Ande Parks and the Russo brothers. Joe Russo wrote the screenplay. The graphic novel's kidnapped daughter becomes a kidnapped son of an imprisoned drug lord in the film.

Hemsworth portrays former Australian special forces soldier Tyler Rake, now a black ops mercenary. He reprises his role in the 2023 "Extraction 2".

Tom Hanks portrays former Confederate officer Jefferson Kyle Kidd in the American western "News of the World". Kidd comes across a young white girl at the scene of a lynching. She was being taken to an aunt and uncle, having been recovered from an indigenous Kiowa camp where she was being raised after being kidnapped some six years previously.

The film follows their adventurous journey together. The film takes its name from how Kidd makes a living, namely reading newspaper stories out to a paying public.

Third film in this list involving veterans, the war drama "Da 5 Bloods" sees four Vietnam vets returning for their squad leader's remains. This is prompted after the tailplane from a crashed CIA plane is revealed by a landslide. Recovering stolen gold taken from the plane is their other main objective. Things get complicated as a result.

Third animated film in this selection, "Onward" is a Pixar-produced fantasy adventure in a modern urban setting. Magic exists but is difficult to master. The elf boys are motivated to seek a rare Phoenix gem and the film charts their progress. As well as being impacted by the pandemic, some countries also banned or censored the film for a brief scene mentioning lesbianism.

It received numerous award nominations.
