Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Droid with a British accent lost his head

Answer: Anthony Daniels

Anthony Daniels is best known for portraying the protocol droid C-3PO in the "Star Wars" films between 1977 and 2019 as well as various spin-offs on film, TV, radio and video games media. He wore the C-3PO costume and provided the neurotic English butler style of voice, although auditions were original carried out for an American voice actor.

In the 2002 "Episode II - Attack of the Clones" film, at one point both C-3PO and R2-D2 find themselves in a droid manufacturing plant where C-3PO's head was knocked off.

The head ended up fixed to a droid's body whilst C-3PO's body received a droid head.
2. Former monarch from Naboo

Answer: Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman's first appearance in the "Star Wars" franchise was in fact in the 1999 film "The Phantom Menace" when she portrayed Padmé Amidal, the 14-year-old queen of Naboo. By the time of "Attack of the Clones" (2002), ten years had passed and she now represented the planet Naboo at the Galatic Senate.

Born Natalie Hershlag, Portman started her film acting at the age of 12 when portraying the young protégée of a hitman in "Léon: The Professional" (1994). The "Star Wars" prequel appearances brought her more attention including some award nominations.
3. Jedi master with troublesome padawan

Answer: Ewan McGregor

Ewan McGregor portrayed the younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the prequel trilogy. The gravitas of the character was established by the actor Alex Guinness in the original trilogy. The troublesome padawan was Anakin Skywalker who eventually turned to the dark side. Obi-Wan Kenobi became a Jedi knight at the end of "The Phantom Menace" (1999) after his Jedi master Qui-Gon died, but not before extracting a promise from Obi-Wan to take Anakin on as an apprentice. Anakin chafed at what he saw as the unnecessary restrictions that Obi-Wan placed on him in "Attack of the Clones" (2002).
4. Mandalorian bounty hunter of some repute

Answer: Temuera Morrison

The Mandalorian appearing in the 2002 "Attack of the Clones" was Jango Fett who served as a genetic model for the clone army. He was portrayed by Temuera Morrison in this film. As payment for allowing his genetic material to be used, he was given an unmodified clone as his son. Named Boba Fett, his son survived to appear in the original trilogy films "The Empire Strikes Back" (1980) and "Return of the Jedi" (1983), although not portrayed by Morrison. Morrison however appeared as Boba Fett in a few episodes of the spin-off TV series "The Mandalorian" (2020-23) but not as the titular character. Boba Fett (portrayed by Morrison) later got his own spin-off TV series "The Book of Boba Fett" (2021-2022).
5. Former slave who turned to farming

Answer: Pernilla August

Pernilla August is the award-winning Swedish actress who portrayed Anakin Skywalker's mother in both "The Phantom Menace" (1999) and "Attack of the Clones" (2002). In the first film she was a slave belonging to the junk dealer Watto. In the second film, she had been sold to a moisture farmer who then freed and married her. Nightmares involving his mother resulted in Anakin being drawn back to Tatooine to find her.
6. Gungan from Naboo in favour of emergency powers

Answer: Ahmed Best

Jar Jar Binks was the Gungan being described. He was voiced by Ahmed Best. One of the character's main claims to fame was that it was the first fully CGI (computer-generated imagery)-supported character in a live-action film. The CGI route was chosen over a digitally-generated head on Best wearing a prosthetic suit.

The main role for the character was in "The Phantom Menace" (1999). Although Binks had a lessor role in the 2002 film, it was still notable. The portrayal drew criticism for characterisation of racial stereotypes, which was denied.

Despite the early criticism, Best continued to act for the "Star Wars' franchise, mainly as Jar Jar Binks but also as Jedi master Kelleran Beq.
7. Sith master puppeteer

Answer: Ian McDiarmid

Scottish actor Ian McDiarmid portrays the Sith lord Darth Sidious who for most of the film is acting as Sheev Palpatine, the charming former senator from Naboo who 'reluctantly' had taken on the mantle of Supreme Chancellor of the Galactic Republic. He was the main antagonist in the series and responsible for masterminding the Clone Wars in the 2002 film. McDiarmid's award-winning career has involved much theatre work as well as TV and film, including five of the "Star Wars" films.

His appearance in "The Empire Strikes Back" was retrospectively added in the 2004 re-release of the film.
8. Jedi Council member

Answer: Samuel L. Jackson

An established actor by that time, Samuel L. Jackson first appeared as Mace Windu in the 1999 "The Phantom Menace". He remained on the Jedi Council in "Attack of the Clones" (2002) watching the politics of the Galactic Senate with unease. He took a more active role when arriving on a rescue mission with Yoda and a battalion of clone troops.

While Jackson appeared in the prequel trilogy, most of his time since has been spent in big-budget films such as the multiple appearances as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
9. Senator from Alderaan

Answer: Jimmy Smits

American actor Jimmy Smits is possibly better known for his TV roles such as "L.A. Law" (1986-92), "NYPD Blue" (1994-98, 2004) and "The West Wing" (2004-06) however has also been connected with the "Star Wars" franchise. His first appearance as Bail Organa is in "Attack of the Clones" (2002) where he worked with other senators to try an prevent the creation of the clone army. Smits has continued to appear as Organa in subsequent "Star Wars" media except in the "Andor" TV series (2022-25).

As Organa, he later played an important role in the Rebel Alliance and became adoptive father to Princess Leia.
10. Disillusioned former Jedi master

Answer: Christopher Lee

Another long-established actor at the time of his casting, British actor Christopher Lee first gained fame for portraying Count Dracula. His character name changed slightly to become Count Dooku for the "Star Wars' franchise, first appearing in "Attack of the Clones" (2002).

His character was another hiding in plain sight in the 2002 film, notionally leading the Separatist movement but in reality working for Darth Sidious. He was an apprentice to Darth Sidious and had the name Darth Tyranus.
