"Macon County Line" was set in Georgia and starred Max Baer Jr., most famous for his role as Jethro in the tv series "The Beverly Hillbillies". Baer played the role of Sheriff Reed Morgan who was out to avenge the death of his wife by two brothers visiting from Chicago. The movie's tagline was "It shouldn't have happened. It couldn't have happened. But it did."
2. Rob Marshall; Catherine Zeta Jones, Richard Gere

"Chicago" was based on the 1975 Broadway musical set in the state of Illinois. The film starred Catherine Zeta Jones, Richard Gere, and Renee Zellweger. The film won six Academy Awards including Best Picture. The movie's plot had two women, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, trying to make it in show business before a murder changes the fate of both women. Rob Marshall is a film and theater director and known for films such as the remake of "The Little Mermaid" and "Into The Woods".
3. Simon Wincer; Paul Hogan

"Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles" was the final film in the "Crocodile Dundee" trilogy. The movie once again showcased the Australian character being taken out of his home country and adjusting to life in America. In this film, Dundee becomes an undercover amateur sleuth in California. Simon Wincer is also Australian like Hogan and directed "Free Willy".
4. Michael Mann; Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx

"Miami Vice" was a groundbreaking television series in the 1980s set on the streets of Miami, Florida. In 2006, a film adaptation was produced with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in the lead roles of Crockett and Tubbs. The glossy crime action film was even darker than the television series.
5. Roland Emmerich; Will Smith, Bill Pullman

While Missouri has a town called Independence, it has no relationship to the 1996 science fiction blockbuster, "Independence Day". The highly profitable film showcased the world being under attack by aliens. Bill Pullman played Thomas Whitmore as President of the United States and his call to arms to protect our planet with the aid of ace pilot Steven Hiller played by Will Smith. Emmerich is a German director who also directed the remake of "Godzilla" and the sequel to "Independence Day".
6. James Mangold; Russell Crowe, Christian Bale

"3:10 To Yuma" was the film title in 1957 and in 2007. Each film was an American Western. The 2007 version had Christian Bale playing a rancher named Dan Evans who runs into an outlaw named Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his gang. The original film starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin in the lead roles. Yuma, Arizona is a city known for their large number of military bases.
7. Richard Fleischer; Tony Curtis, Henry Fonda

"The Boston Strangler" was a classic biographical thriller about the life of Albert DeSalvo, the infamous serial killer named after a city in Massachusetts. The film earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama for Tony Curtis in the lead role. Henry Fonda played the role of John Bottomly, the leader of a "Strangler Bureau" to investigate the suspects.
8. Nora Ephron; Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan

"Sleepless In Seattle" was inspired by "An Affair To Remember" in 1957. The modern update featured Tom Hanks as a widower in the state of Washington whose son called into a late night radio show about his father's sadness. It caught the attention of Annie Reed as played by Meg Ryan. The film is often listed among the greatest romantic comedies of all-time. Nora Ephron has directed other romantic comedies including "You've Got Mail" and "When Harry Met Sally".
9. Tamra Davis; Adam Sandler

"Billy Madison" is one of Adam Sandler's most beloved comedies. The story is of an heir to Madison Hotels who is required to go back to school (including elementary school) to prove he's worthy to takeover the family business. The name "Madison" does not refer to the capital city of Wisconsin but it does fit the theme of the quiz. Director Tamra Davis also did "Crossroads", the motion picture debut of Britney Spears.
10. Werner Herzog; Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes

"Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" was set in the Big Easy in Louisiana right after Hurricane Katrina. Nicolas Cage played the role of Lieutenant Terence McDonagh, who became addicted to drugs which led to his downward spiral in the 2009 film. Eva Mendes was his love interest and a call girl in the film.

Herzog is a German film director who also directed "Nosferatu The Vampyre" in 1979.
