In "Brief Encounter" (1945), a lonely housewife (Celia Johnson) meets a married doctor (Trevor Howard) at a train station. When they run into each other again, they develop a friendship and agree to meet at the train station once a week. Their friendship develops into a passionate affair, and although Laura is excited by the attention, she is very uncomfortable about being unfaithful to her husband.
While at a friend's apartment, they are startled by the friend's return; they both realize that they can never be together and so they decide to meet once more to say goodbye.

"Before Sunrise" (1995) is the story of a brief encounter between American tourist, Jesse (Ethan Hawke), and French student, Celine (Julie Delpy). Since they don't have much money, they roam the city and talk throughout the night, getting to know each other.
In the morning, they return to the train station and agree to meet there in six months.
