He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

"Radioactivity" was the only single released from Kraftwerk's 1976 album "Radio-Activity." A concept album based around the themes of radioactive decay and activity on broadcast radio, the album was the band's first purely electronic release, featuring liberal use of instruments such as synthesisers, vocoders, and Orchestrons to create electronic vocals and sounds. The single "Radio Activity" was a chart hit in Belgium, and was certified Gold in France for selling 500,000 copies. In 2007, British DJ Fatboy Slim covered the song on his compilation mix album "Late Night Tales: Fatboy Slim"; the single was available as a limited edition 7-inch record. "Physical" was a 1981 US Billboard Hot 100 number one song for Olivia Newton-John, "Electric Avenue" was a 1983 number two in the US and UK for Eddy Grant, and "Fire" was a Billboard Hot 100 number one song in 1974 for the US band Ohio Players which was also used as the opening theme for the first 18 seasons of the American version of the television show "Hell's Kitchen."
