6. What is the title of the 1969 song by Simon & Garfunkel that sings of a man who was "a fighter by his trade" ?

Answer: The Boxer

The song was a major hit for the duo and is at number 105 of Rolling Stone's '500 Greatest Songs of All Time'. The boxer only appears in the final verse, the rest of the song is about a poor man who comes to New York City and tries to survive alone. The final verse is more of an analogy - the fighter who takes all sorts of physical punishment but perseveres and refuses to give in. Paul Simon, who wrote the lyrics, admits that it is partly autobiographical "I think the song was about me: everybody's beating me up, and I'm telling you now I'm going to go away if you don't stop."
