Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Something I wasn't sure of, but I was in the middle of."

Answer: This Is the Last Time

While, from the outset, "This Is the Last Time" may seem like a deeper cut from "Hopes and Fears", it actually acted as the band's second single from the album in Europe. Though it gained no traction in the U.S., it would top out at number eighteen on the UK Singles Chart and help the band push harder into "Somewhere Only We Know" a short time later.

In the U.S. and in other international markets, this song appeared as the second track on the "Hopes & Fears" album, perhaps making it more recognizable-- it was ninth on the track list in the band's home country.
2. "I'm a better man now than I was that day."

Answer: Sovereign Light Café

The third and final single from "Strangeland", "Sovereign Light Café" released to radios in mid-July 2012 and commemorated the band's continued success on the album front-- they hit number one on the UK Album Chart at the same time. The song would also end up the most-streamed from the album in the long-run, beating out "Silenced by the Night" and "Disconnected" before it. Shortly after its release and the band's tour, Keane would go on hiatus for several years, having a "Best of" album sent out in the interim as its members pursued solo careers.

They would reunite in 2019.
3. "And they say that you should move on but you can't even get your shoes on."

Answer: The Way I Feel

Though Keane would go on hiatus for the first time in 2014, they would reunite in 2019 to create their fifth studio album, "Cause and Effect", releasing "The Way I Feel" as the lead single in June of that year. A return to form for the band, it allowed Keane to scale the UK Album Chart once again. Though their previous four albums topped the chart, "Cause and Effect" was the first in their catalogue to top out at number two.

It also managed to be the first to fall short of the Billboard 200 in the U.S.
4. "The more I look, the more I think that I'm starting to disappear."

Answer: Crystal Ball

Layering distortion sounds throughout the track, Keane used "Crystal Ball" to further elaborate on their signature sound as they continued to promote "Under the Iron Sea"; they pushed "Crystal Ball" right after "Is It Any Wonder?" in 2006. Although this song only hit number twenty on the UK Singles Chart it continued their streak of charting songs in this era.

They would persist with "Nothing in My Way" (at number nineteen), "A Bad Dream" (at number twenty-three), and "Try Again" (which failed to chart in the UK) before moving onto their next album.
5. "When we fall in love we're just falling in love with ourselves."

Answer: Spiralling

The first single from the band's 2008 album, "Perfect Symmetry", "Spiralling" almost seemed to be a departure from their earlier works, bringing a different groove to their catalogue with synth elements unseen in previous tracks. "Spiralling" ended up being a modest hit in the UK, hitting number twenty-three on the UK Singles Chart.

It would be the highest-charting track for the band from the album and their longest-lasting song on the UK charts.
6. "Well, maybe it's a puzzle I don't understand."

Answer: Is It Any Wonder?

Releasing as a single in 2006, "Is It Any Wonder?" was Keane's first major track to hit the airwaves from their sophomore album, "Under the Iron Sea". Pushing harder into the piano rock by leaning on the accompanying instruments, this track helped the band flesh out their live setlist with more variety; if "Hopes and Fears" was an emotional album, "Under the Iron Sea" was the next evolution for Keane. Like "Somewhere Only We Know", "Is It Any Wonder?" peaked at number three on the UK Singles Chart; it hit number one on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart in the U.S.
7. "Oh simple thing where have you gone?"

Answer: Somewhere Only We Know

Keane's breakthrough hit, "Somewhere Only We Know" encapsulated the emotional piano rock that the band would make their signature sound in their early days. While "Everybody's Changing" was first out the gate single-wise, "Somewhere Only We Know" topped it, hitting number three on the UK Singles Chart and becoming Keane's first hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

While it would only hit number fifty on the chart, it would go multi-platinum in the U.S. and peak at number two on the U.S. Adult Alternative Songs chart.
8. "I wanna love the way we used to then."

Answer: Silenced by the Night

Peaking at number forty-six on the UK Singles Chart, "Silenced by the Night" was the highest-charting single from Keane's fourth full album release, "Strangeland", which came out in 2012. While this would be the lowest-charting lead single for the band to date, "Strangeland" topped the UK Albums Chart and cracked number seventeen on the US Billboard 200. Notably, the track pulled the band away from their more dynamic beats from "Perfect Symmetry" and the "Night Train" EP in favour of a sound more like their first two albums.
9. "You say you wander your own land, but when I think about it I don't see how you can."

Answer: Everybody's Changing

The first single to release from the immensely popular "Hopes and Fears" album, "Everybody's Changing" allowed Keane to get their footing in the UK, pushing them up to number four on the UK Singles Chart. Though the band failed to appear on the U.S. Hot 100 Billboard chart, they did make it to number six on the US Adult Alternative Songs chart instead. One of the band's many songs to make the rounds on U.S. TV (on shows like "One Tree Hill" and "Scrubs", it would remain one of the band's highest-charting tracks.
10. "You take the pieces of the dreams that you have 'cause you don't like the way they seem to be going."

Answer: The Lovers Are Losing

The second track to release as a single from "Perfect Symmetry", "The Lovers Are Losing" released alongside the album and marked a notable turn in reception for the band. Hitting a mere rank of number fifty-two on the UK Singles Chart, it would be the first indication that the band's earlier hits would remain their strongest and, while they would continue to release albums, they would bubble under mainstream success in the alternative music sphere.

Despite this, the "Perfect Symmetry" album would be quite popular hitting the top spot on the UK Albums Chart and number seven on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.
