Answer: Mobile homes/trailers attract tornadoes

Mobile homes do not attract tornadoes, but they do show the most obvious damage when we see news footage. Being relatively lightweight, they are easy victims, being lifted up, swirled around and crashed into the ground. On March 18, 1925 a tornado swept through Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana which had one of the longest and widest paths on record (220 miles and one mile wide)It caused one of the largest areas of destruction (164 square miles). It was also one of the longest-lasting ever, at 3½ hours, injuring almost 2,000 people and killing early 700 people. Those 12 children that escaped fatality were in China, when on May 29, 1986 they were swept out by a tornado as they walked to school. Sucked up into the tornado they were then carried 12 miles through the air and then dropped down. They were unhurt thanks to landing onto soft dunes.
