The NYG refused to play, as the saw the newly formed American League as "inferior".

Answer: 2004

In 2004, Boston defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 to take their first World Series in nearly ninety years. This was after an historical come from behind win in the ALCS, where the Red Sox overcame a 3-0 series deficit, the first time in MLB history, to top their hated rivals in the New York Yankees.
7. September baseball is crunch time across MLB and October is where memories and legends are made. But, in one year, there was November baseball too! In what year was there an official MLB game played in November, for the first time?

Answer: 2001

In 2001, the horrific tragedy known as 9/11 occurred. As a result of this, unbelievable amounts of flight travels across the USA were at best postponed, and outright canceled in some cases. That year, the Arizona Diamondbacks faced the New York Yankees in the World Series. Arizona is, of course, a long ways away from New York, which necessitates a flight to get there with any sort of efficiency. Because of this, multiple game delays to the World Series were experienced and the last game wasn't played until November 4th, 2001, where Arizona won the series 4-3.
8. Typically, in the World Series, one side hosts two games, then the other side hosts the next two games, and things progress if more games are needed. In one World Series, however, all games were played in one single ballpark regardless of who was considered 'home' and 'away'. In what year did this happen?

Answer: 2020

The ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic threw several logistical hurdles at MLB. Most of the country was on some sort of lockdown which made travel and joining teams together to play a game difficult. To make the World Series playable in its entirety, without encountering legal problems, MLB opted to have all games played at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

The classic itself was played between the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers, teams based in cities far, far away from Arlington, Texas. As a result, this World Series is often looked back on as the "Neutral Site Fall Classic".

The LA Dodgers won the series 4-2.
9. 21st century MLB baseball has seen pretty incredible parity. It took a long time before a previous year's World Series champion was actually able to defend their title the next season. Who was the first team to win back-to-back World Series in the 21st century?

Answer: Los Angeles Dodgers

In 2024, the Dodgers bounced the Yankees 4-1. The following year, the team fought tooth and nail with the Toronto Blue Jays, winning 4-3 to capture their second title in a row. Prior to this, from the years 2000-2023, no team won back-to-back World Series. The San Francisco Giants came the closest, winning three titles over the course of five seasons from 2010-2014.
10. The World Series is supposed to be, in theory, the two best teams in all of baseball going at it. Sometimes, this produces tightly contested, lengthy series. Sometimes, it becomes clear quick who the better team is. Which team swept a World Series during the 21st century, winning 4-0?

Answer: San Francisco Giants

The Giants pushed the Detroit Tigers aside in 2012, winning each game by an average of 5.5 runs in a 4-0 romp. Before them, the Boston Red Sox swiftly dismissed the Colorado Rockies in 2007 and the Chicago White Sox easily handled the Houston Astros in 2005.
