Unlike the Marlins who won their first World Series in only their fifth season, the Rockies had to wait until their 15th season to reach the promised land in 2007. Answer: Washington Nationals

The franchise began as an expansion team in 1969 as the Montreal Expos. The Expos found only one playoff series in 1981 in a loss to the Dodgers. Robinson took over the reins of the team in 2002, then the team moved in 2005 with Frank still at the helm.

Answer: Cleveland Blues

The Cleveland Blues was the emergence of the American League's Cleveland Indians in 1901. They became the Cleveland Bronchos in 1902, the Cleveland Naps in 1903, then came the Indians name in 1915. In 1920, the franchise experienced their first World Series win over the Brooklyn Robins. Their other win in the century was against the Boston Braves in 1948.
5. It was like a TOILSOME RARE BOIL that this franchise went to only one World Series in their first 50 seasons, and even lost that one. They also lost 100 games in a season seven times before they packed their bags and moved to a different city. The franchise finally bagged a World Series crown in the 1960s as which team name?

Answer: Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles franchise began as the Milwaukee Brewers in 1901, then became the dismal St. Louis Browns in 1902. The Browns' only World Series appearance was against crosstown rival NL Cardinals in 1944 in a four games to two loss. The franchise moved to Baltimore in 1954, and matched the Browns' 1953 record of 54-100 in their first season.

The franchise finally won it all in 1966, while skunking the Los Angeles Dodgers four games to none. The Orioles would appear in four World Series between 1966-1971.

Answer: San Francisco Giants

The Giants and the Dodgers moved to the West Coast from New York in 1958. The National League pennant race was between them both in 1962, and ended after a three-game playoff with the Giants being victorious. San Francisco met the Yankees in the World Series and lost.

The 1962 season saw Dodger Don Drysdale win the Cy Young, and Maury Wills win the MVP Award for his 104 stolen bases. That playoff series was most memorable to Dodger fans also, as the Giants' groundskeepers kept the infield dirt more than moist to help slow down the speedy Wills.

Answer: Detroit Tigers

With pitchers Bill Donovan and Ed Killian winning 25 games, they also had George Mullin who won 20. The Tigers had the bats also in the names of Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, and Claude Rossman. However, they just could not bag a World Series title in 1907, 1908, or 1909.

They lost to the Cubs twice, then the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Tigers would have to wait until 1935 to win their first World Series crown when they defeated the Cubs four games to two.

If that weren't enough, the franchise was placed in the National League Central Division in 1998.
