The NFC is divided into four divisions with four teams in each conference.
In the NFC East, the
continued their good form of the 2020s with 14 wins and three losses (14-3) to win this division and earn the second seed for the playoffs. The
surprised many by winning 12-5 to finish second and clinch a wild-card playoff spot. The
, unusually, had a losing season (7-10) and came third. The
languished 3-14 to come fourth in this division.
In the NFC South, two teams in week 18 could have won the division but only one could have qualified for the playoffs, the team that came first because all the other conferences had second-place teams that had 10 wins. This team was the
who won and won the conference with ten wins. The
, by losing its last game meant they came second with eight wins.
had somewhat of a late-season resurgence, winning two of their last three to finish third with 5-12. The
did the opposite, winning their first two but finishing fourth, also with 5-12.
The NFC West had been a strong division in the previous few years but in 2024, no team did exceptionally well but, conversely, no team did poorly.
(10-7) clinched the division, yet the
who also won 10-7 missed the playoffs altogether. Third place went to the
 (8-9), whereas the
, last season's NFC Super Bowl team, could only manage 6-11 and placed fourth.
The strongest division in the entire NFL was the NFC North where the
(11-6) qualified for the playoffs as the seventh seed from the unusual placing of third in the division, whereas the
(5-12) did not, and came fourth. Coming into week 18, no season had ever seen two teams in the same division at 14-2 before. Stakes were high: the winner earned the number one seed and the loser was 'relegated' to seed number 5 and second divisional place despite that 14 wins would have won you any other division across the NFC. However, the
 convincingly defeated the
31-9 to take the coveted top spot and top seed in the NFC.
