From 1997 to 1999, while Philips Arena was being built on the old Omni site, the Hawks went back to Alexander Coliseum to play games against less popular opponents. Games against teams like Chicago, N.Y., and the L.A. Lakers were played at the cavernous Georgia Dome, home of the NFL's Falcons. On March 27, 1998, an all-time NBA single-game attendance record was set when 62,046 fans watched the Michael Jordan and the Bulls beat the Hawks at the Dome, 89-74.
