The episode began with Josh shouting at Donna but she quickly told him not to do it but he did not hear her. Josh told her he got a bill saying he owed $50,000 on the hospital which treated him and that failure to pay would result in a negative credit. Donna worried this was on her credit but Josh assured her it was just his credit.

Josh saw Sam and informed him as to how he had another bill regarding his outstanding debt to the hospital and asked him for advice. Sam advised Josh that perhaps he should get another job in mowing lawns to help pay off the $50,000 he owed, which upset Josh. Donna reminded Josh not to keep shouting as it irritated the staff.

Donna spoke with Sam and told him she was about to take some media reporters in The White House to meet with the President and that she was going to tell them a joke. When Donna entered the room, she said that she was the assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff so that must have made her the Deputy, Deputy Chief of Staff.

However, nobody found Donna's joke funny so she immediately took them to see the President and said he would be happy to pose for some pictures.

Larroquette, born on November 25th, 1947 in New Orleans, Lousiana guest starred as Lionel Tribbey, counsel for The White House, in this episode of "The West Wing." This was the only time Larroquette appeared in the series. He's also guest starred on the TV series', "Joey", "House M.D.", and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

In C.J.'s first scene, she was with Toby and they started to talk for a little bit and she mentioned to him how she noticed she was one of few people who did not get bent out of shape over Ainsley Hayes. Toby reminded her how, when C.J. first heard the news of Leo hiring her, she slammed a door. C.J. acknowledged this but she was over the hiring at that point and suggested other people get over it as well. C.J. suggested people do not like her because she is Republican and a good looking woman.

Ainsley appeared right after the opening credits and was seen speaking to Leo. She informed him how surprised she was at how one of the White House lawyers, Lionel Tribbey, thought it was a great idea to hire her. Leo asked her why she was surprised at this and she mentioned how she was a Republican whereas Lionel was not. Leo responded he was a brilliant and fair-minded attorney but then brought up to her how he had not informed Lionel of her hiring.

Lionel first entered a room where Leo and Ainsley were and was furious and had a cricket bat in his hand. He said he would use it on people as he believed nobody in The White House had heard of contempt of Congress and how Congress likely would hold The White House in contempt.

He explained how Steve Joyce and Mark Brookline testified at Government Affairs how The White House could not produce an important memo which Congress needed.

After Lionel cooled down a little bit, Leo introduced him to Ainsley and he asked Leo if she was the one who wrote certain columns. Leo said yes so that is when Lionel said to Ainsley she was an idiot. Leo told him she was not and how she interned for an Associate Justice of the United States named Dreifort, which Lionel responded made little difference as he also felt Dreifort was an idiot.

President Bartlet gave a speech in this episode and spoke about farmers and how they held good American values: faith, calm perseverance, and patience. He also gave a speech about women and how they are not as appreciated as they should. As President Bartlet spoke, Lionel interrupted his speech and asked him if he had lost his mind in asking Leo to hire Ainsley Hayes. Right after this, one of the media persons asked to cut the live feed of the speech while Lionel continued arguing. President Bartlet asked him to please leave and they would talk later, which Lionel agreed to do.

Sam and Toby spoke about Josh and the money he had to pay the hospital and how the amount was high since he did not get his treatment cleared first by his insurance company. Sam suggested to Toby that Josh sue the people who shot him so he could come up with a settlement to help pay off his debt. Toby stated how the people who shot him were all dead but Sam informed him how hardly any of them had actually died.
