Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. MP5K

Answer: Submachine Guns

This is the SMG players begin their profile with, and do not have to unlock. Fittingly, it is the most average, all around regular gun of the class. It has a plain and ordinary fire rate, damage output and reload speed. The visual recoil is definitely a nagging issue, preventing it from being usable outside of a mid range like most SMGs.

In Zombies, this weapon is a wall buy on every non-Rezurrection map for 1000 points. Most bullet weapons in this game are pretty abysmal, and the MP5K is rather mediocre. Funnily enough, merely being mediocre is good enough to make it one of the better wall buy weapons in this game. For high round pushes however, this thing is second rate at best.
2. M16

Answer: Assault Rifles

This is the Assault Rifle players begin their profile with. It is a three round burst gun, one of two in the class competing with the G11. Compared to the G11, the M16 offers slightly better damage, but inferior accuracy and reload speed. They are both about as good as one another, but the M16 is available immediately whereas the G11 is the very last assault rifle unlocked.

This weapon is a wall buy on every non-Rezurrection map for 1200 points. When Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the Skullcrusher and gets a huge makeover. It is now fully automatic and comes equipped with a grenade launcher underbarrel.
3. Olympia

Answer: Shotguns

Unfortunately, the Olympia is well known for being abysmal in every way. This is a double barreled shotgun, but it just doesn't have the stats to function within the limitations of having to reload every two shots. Famously, aiming down the sights of this weapon bizarrely causes the pellet spread to grow, making it even harder to get a much needed one shot. There is no explanation for this other than a developmental error, as it makes absolutely zero real-life sense. Sadly, such is life, and the Olympia is probably the single worst weapon in the whole entire game as a result.

Things don't get much better in Zombies, only at least this time Treyarch intended for the Olympia to be weak. It is a spawn room weapon, alongside the M14, available in almost every non-Rezurrection map right when players spawn. Unfortunately, the M14 is a much better choice, and players should never choose to buy both. Even in performing as a stopgap, the Olympia is a bust.
4. HK21

Answer: Light Machine Guns

The HK21 is a well known, but unfortunately mediocre LMG. It is the LMG players begin their profile with, so it makes sense that it wouldn't be an award winner. The HK21 simply suffers from bad stats. This weapon deals underwhelming damage and has an infamously terrible fire rate, to go with an unimpressive reload speed.

In Zombies, this weapon is one of two LMGs available from the Mystery Box, alongside the RPK. They are basically neck and neck in terms of overall strength, and they're both pretty solid weapons. The HK21 has a ton of ammunition and, combined with its slow fire rate, it will take a long time to expend all that ammo.
5. Dragunov

Answer: Sniper Rifles

The Dragunov is one of four sniper rifles, one of three to be semi automatic. Compared to the WA2000, the Dragunov is entirely outclassed except in clip size, which is of questionable value for a gun primarily meant to play on the defensive with. Compared to the other semi auto sniper, the PSG1, the Dragunov is once again thoroughly embarrassed, this time getting absolutely clowned on in damage output in particular. It is the sniper rifle players begin their profile with, so it makes sense for it to be an underwhelming one.

In Zombies, this weapon is in the Mystery Box. It is deceptively strong here, with a very strong headshot multiplier. It benefits from the fact that the WA2000 and PSG1 do not appear in Zombies at all, making the Dragunov the only semi automatic sniper rifle available.
6. ASP

Answer: Pistols

The ASP is the pistol players start their profile with. Yes, that means it sucks. This is easily the worst pistol in the entire game. It has simply awful damage output, to the point where if forced to use it, players are genuinely better off trying to rush up to their opponent and knife them, than they are trying to gun them down with this. The ASP is not even an effective side arm. Players may start their profile with this gun, but that doesn't mean they have to use it...

Mercifully, this gun does not appear in Zombies at all.
7. AK74U

Answer: Submachine Guns

The AK74U is pretty much universally accepted to be the best SMG in the game. This offers the second best damage in class, trailing only the Skorpion, which the AK74U otherwise totally outclasses. This gun has a functional clip size of 20 and excellent stability, with minimal visual recoil. This lets it compete with Assault Rifles at a mid range, which is something other SMGs in this game struggle with.

In Zombies, the AK74U is generally considered the best wall buy weapon in the entire game. Frankly, it has barely any real competition for that claim, but something has to be the best. On its own, the AK74U is alright. It does alright damage, has an alright fire rate and a standard, par for the course reload speed. As such, it's a pretty reliable weapon which is off the wall on all non-Rezurrection maps.
8. Famas

Answer: Assault Rifles

The Famas is iconic, arguably the absolute pinnacle for bullet weapons in multiplayer. It has the best fire rate by far of the fully automatic ARs, has surprisingly good accuracy and elite damage that melts health bars like nothing.

Sadly, things take a turn for the worse in Zombies. Here, the Famas is only available out of the Mystery Box, and it comes with an irritatingly small amount of ammunition. The damage output isn't too exciting, rendering it an all around mediocre weapon.

Having said that, likely due to a quirk in development, the Famas strangely gets a torqued up headshot multiplier when specifically shooting George Romero on Call of the Dead. That makes it a great choice for killing George. At least it has that going for it, which is admittedly pretty useful.
9. Stakeout

Answer: Shotguns

The Stakeout is another awful "Black Ops 1" shotgun. It suffers from the same problems its brethren do; it is slow as molasses and simply doesn't do enough damage to compensate. It is a pump action shotgun with maybe one of the slowest rechambers in all of shotgun history. The damage output is nothing amazing, and it is a struggle to one shot with this thing.

In Zombies, unfortunately, things don't get better. The Stakeout, for 1500 points, is egregiously overpriced. The regular version stops one shotting zombies after a putrid round 8, and Pack-a-Punch only extends this to round 16. This weapon isn't anywhere near fast enough to remain viable when it isn't one shotting, so this is simply insufficient. Adding insult to injury, when you Pack-a-Punch the lowly Olympia, the resulting Hades one shots until round 20. That means arguably even the Olympia is a better long term investment than the Stakeout, and the Olympia was intentionally designed to be weak in the first place...
10. RPK

Answer: Light Machine Guns

The RPK is a major step up in fire rate from the HK21, while taking an almost equal step back in accuracy. Which one is better between the two is largely up to personal preference. That said, due to its higher fire rate, the RPK is a slightly better choice in close quarters, though its poor mobility means it's nothing to write home about here.

In Zombies, like the HK21, the RPK is in the Mystery Box. Like the HK21, it's hard to go wrong with the RPK. Similarly to Multiplayer, the better between the two is largely personal preference.
11. WA2000

Answer: Sniper Rifles

The WA2000 is a semi automatic sniper rifle. It meaningfully distinguishes itself from the Dragunov and PSG1 by having virtually no recoil, making follow up shots very smooth to land.

Unfortunately, it does not have a presence anywhere in Zombies.
12. M1911

Answer: Pistols

The M1911 is a breath of fresh air for people who wasted their time on the ASP and Makarov, as this is a semi automatic pistol which can tango in Multiplayer. It has excellent accuracy, absolutely no visual recoil and acceptable damage output. It is a reliable sidearm.

In Zombies, this is the weapon players always start the game with. As such, of course, it is intentionally designed to be very weak. However, famously, the M1911 is saved and then some if the player has the patience to take this thing to Pack-a-Punch. Doing so creates the iconic Mustang and Sally, dual wielded M1911s which now fire grenades. Not only is this extremely cool and very fun to use, but it's very, very effective in general as well.
13. MAC11

Answer: Submachine Guns

This is a one-handed SMG granting the player 110% movement speed, one of just three SMGs, one of four weapons in general, in the game to make that claim. Unfortunately, the positives end there. The fire rate may be competitive with other SMGs, but the damage output, accuracy and even reload speed are very lacking.

The MAC11 does not have a presence in Zombies.
14. Galil

Answer: Assault Rifles

This iconic assault rifle features the absolute best damage in class among those which fire fully automatic. It has elite accuracy, sizable clips and functional reload speed. It has no drawbacks and is very user friendly at that.

In Zombies, the Galil reasserts itself as the full-auto AR with the highest damage output. This is even more of a boon in Zombies than Multiplayer, causing the Galil to shine. It is in the Mystery Box on every map.
15. SPAS-12

Answer: Shotguns

This is the only shotgun in this entire game to not be completely dead on arrival. The SPAS-12 is actually a genuinely good weapon, as it is semi automatic, and it has an acceptable clip size of 8 to wield that with. Unlike the Olympia and Stakeout, the player isn't utterly screwed if they don't one-shot since the weapon is semi automatic. Unlike the HS10, it is actually possible to one shot someone with this.

In Zombies, the SPAS-12 is a very okay weapon. Again, that by default makes it the game's best shotgun. Pack-a-Punched, it gains a massive clip size of 24 and reloads six shells with each inserted shell. It also features Dragon's Breath in this case, giving it some added bite.
16. M60

Answer: Light Machine Guns

The M60 is without question the worst LMG in this entire game. It has the low fire rate of the HK21, the below average accuracy of the RPK, to go with by far the slowest reload speed of all LMGs. Compared to the others, there is no upside to using this weapon unless you really wanted to roleplay as an American soldier and you were bored of using the M16 all the time.

The M60 technically appears in one single Zombies experience: Dead Ops Arcade. This is the weapon players start with in DOA. It comes with unlimited ammunition and endless clip sizes though, so is it really an M60, or does it just happen to look like one?
17. L96A1

Answer: Sniper Rifles

This is the game's only bolt action sniper rifle. Therefore, it unsurprisingly boasts the category's highest damage output, as well as slowest fire rate. The L96A1 and PSG1 are the only two sniper rifles which will reliably kill in one shot from the chest up. Sadly, since the PSG1 is semi automatic and thus can fire far faster, it is the superior choice.

Well, the PSG1 doesn't appear in Zombies, and the L96A1 does. It deals more damage per shot than the Dragunov, though because the latter's headshot multiplier is much higher, this is actually a closer race than you'd think. Generally, the Dragunov is actually the winner here due to its advantage in speed.
18. Makarov

Answer: Pistols

The Makarov is statistically basically the same thing as the ASP. That is to say it is less of a gun and more of a pea shooter. This disgraceful party popper has poor accuracy and damage with nothing to compensate. There is scarcely a reason to use it.

Like the ASP, the Makarov never gained the opportunity to further embarrass itself in Zombies.
19. Kiparis

Answer: Submachine Guns

The Kiparis is a shining example of not only taking into account raw stats. On paper, this gun looks amazing. It tangibly has competitive fire rate and damage to go with a solid clip size.

Sadly, the Kiparis is actually terrible. This is because its visual recoil is horrendous and the iron sights, of all things, are obstructive. This almost forces the player to spend an attachment slot on a reflex sight, which is not a problem any other SMG faces.

The Kiparis could have potentially been pretty great in Zombies. Sadly, the world will never know this for sure.
20. AUG

Answer: Assault Rifles

The AUG is my personal favorite weapon in this entire game. As an AR, it has an above average fire rate and damage output with manageable accuracy and reload speed. Uniquely, this weapon has some really quirky attachment options. It has its own exclusive ACOG scope, which was excellent attention to detail on Treyarch's part given that this is the only British originated armament in the entire game. Beyond that, the AUG can accept an underbarreled Masterkey, Flamethrower and Grenade Launcher. The Flamethrower sucks and the Masterkey is very unwieldy, but the pure novelty of having these options in and of itself is very cool.

In Zombies, the good times keep rolling with the AUG. It is a Mystery Box weapon. When Pack-a-Punched, the AUG-50M3 comes with the aforementioned underbarreled Masterkey. The Masterkey is a lot easier to use in Zombies. Though it isn't very strong, it serves as a very useful accessory to a weapon which is itself formidable.

Uniquely, the AUG in Zombies comes with its exclusive ACOG scope already equipped.
21. HS10

Answer: Shotguns

The HS10 rounds off the Holy Trinity of pitiful shotguns from this game. This is like the SPAS-12 in that it is a semi automatic shotgun. Where it differentiates is that the SPAS-12 actually poses some semblance of a threat and can generally kill people with consistency. The HS-10 having four round clips with a dual action reload, all the while being a shotgun which cannot guarantee a two shot kill, seals its fate.

Things do get a very, very little bit better for the HS-10 in Zombies. It is a Mystery Box weapon. It doesn't get interesting until the player Pack-a-Punches it. This turns the HS-10 into the Typhoid and Mary, dual wielded HS-10s. The damage output is pretty low, but introducing a second HS-10 to the equation gives the weapon at least signs of life. That's more than can be said for the Stakeout...
22. Stoner63

Answer: Light Machine Guns

The Stoner63, in contrast to the M60, is the better of both worlds, and not the worst, between the RPK's high fire rate and HK21's good accuracy. As such, the Stoner63 is unsurprisingly the best LMG in the game, fitfully unlocked dead last all the way at level 55, the very final level the player can get to.

Sadly, this weapon does not have a presence in Zombies. In fact, it barely even has a presence in Campaign, only appearing in the very final mission of the entire game, and only in a tiny, abbreviated instance at that.
23. PSG1

Answer: Sniper Rifles

The PSG1 combines the speedy fire rate of the WA2000, the slight unwieldiness of the Dragunov and most of the damage output from the L96A1. It is a reliable one shot kill to the chest and up, making it the most reliable sniper rifle in the game.

The PSG1 doesn't appear in Zombies. However, it does take center stage in the iconic Campaign mission 'Numbers', where it is the weapon players begin with and generally use most of the way.
24. Python

Answer: Pistols

This is the game's only revolver. It is definitely the best pistol in the game. You would think boasting by far the highest damage of the category would make it slow, but the Python's fire rate is surprisingly competitive. Of course, it features the customary low six round cylinder, and it is also dual action, so the reload speed is slow. That said, it does have Speed Reloader for an attachment which solves that problem very easily.

The Python is a Mystery Box weapon in Zombies. When Pack-a-Punched, it becomes the Cobra and gains the aforementioned Speed Reloader. It is a pretty alright weapon in this mode.
25. CZ75

Answer: Pistols

This is a semi automatic pistol with some character. It features the highest clip size of its class, but it also has a fully automatic attachment players can try out. What's quirkiest about this weapon though, is that it technically is one of four weapons in the game to give the player 110% mobility. However, strangely enough, it only does this if the player dual wields CZ75s, adding a second gun. Wielding just the one CZ75 does not enhance mobility, yet wielding two does. This was probably a quirk in development.

In Zombies, this weapon is technically in the Mystery Box twice. Once as a single wield CZ75, then a second time as dual CZ75s. When Pack-a-Punched, both of them become fully automatic and are named the 'Calamity' and 'Calamity and Jane' respectively.
