Author's Note: This mission, more than any other, has a litany of differences between the consoles mentioned and the Wii version. I will mention Wii differences in the info, but they will not come up in any questions; you could never have touched the Wii version ever and be fine to proceed on this quiz.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Towards the beginning, Viktor Reznov will loudly tell Mason "you choose your men well, Mason!" as he is standing directly next to Frank Woods. How does Woods respond to Reznov's compliment?

Answer: He doesn't

Woods doesn't respond simply because Reznov is not actually there, thus Woods does not hear or see anyone complimenting him. This is another somewhat subtle way the game pokes at the player's perception of what is going on. A player who is paying any sort of attention may be somewhat surprised that the very vocal, animate Woods has absolutely nothing to say to a Soviet who complimented his combat skill.

The attention to detail from Treyarch in this sequence is impressive. They do a fantastic job balancing the need to at least try to make it seem like Reznov is there, while also balancing the need for anyone other than Mason to have no idea of this.
2. After everyone has boarded the boat, Mason gets to commandeer it. The boat is armed with two different weapons. What is one of them?

Answer: M60

The boat has three weapons. One of them is an M60, and it has two Grim Reapers, one for each shoulder. Thankfully, the player has unlimited ammunition, so they can fire and forget. They are limited slightly by an overheat mechanic on the M60 and the need to reload the Grim Reapers after firing them, but they can never run out of ammo entirely.

Unfortunately, on the Wii version, this is instead a simple cinematic. The player does not get to manually drive the boat, and the weapons work entirely autonomously.
3. While on the boat, the men tune in to the hilariously named Psychedelic Music Show on the fictitious station AFVN. The host, Zack Johnson, plays a song from the famous real world band Credence Clearwater Revival. What song is it?

Answer: Sympathy for the Devil

While the player is driving the boat, this song will play on an endless loop. If the player takes a death or returns to their last checkpoint for any reason, the song will restart from the beginning.

To the acute ear, you will also hear Johnson read off "this one goes out to Sargeant Blundell" before announcing the song. There is no Sgt. Blundell in "Call of Duty" lore, and this quote almost definitely refers to a real world man by the name of Jason Blundell, who would go on to be Treyarch's head developer through "Black Ops 2" and "Black Ops 3".

Sadly, in the Wii version, this sequence simply never happens and the song never plays.
4. An unnamed marine joins the boat Mason, Woods, Bowman and Reznov ride on. Does he survive the mission?

Answer: No

At the start of the mission, a very young marine whose name is never revealed boards the ship and mans the ship's M60. He is explictly told "don't get killed" by Woods, which is slightly uncharacteristic for the brooding, uncaring, raging veteran to say.

The events of this mission are told from Mason to The Interrogator. We get a brief glimpse of character development on Frank Woods here. Mason will tell The Interrogator that, while Woods is never emotional on principal, he did shed tears for the marine who was shot while riding on this boat.
5. The player has infinite ammunition and is not on any sort of time crunch while riding the boat. If they make good use of the time, they can earn the Lord Nelson side achievement. Doing what will fulfill Lord Nelson?

Answer: Destroying all enemy structures and infantry

The name is a direct reference to the real world British Royal Navy Admiral Horatio Nelson. Nelson was most renowned for his expertise in naval combat, and the player spends the opening half of this mission in a boat.

Even Nelson himself might struggle with this achievement if he was to play the game, as there are a ton of enemies the player must destroy- 143 infantry and 28 different structures to be exact. Mercifully, most of the infantry will be taken out in tandem with the structures they are residing in, be it stationary buildings or inside mobile vehicles.

It is very, very easy to miss a lone straggler. If the player is not fully and truly at 100% of enemies destroyed, they cannot earn the Lord Nelson achievement. Thankfully, the game permits endless amounts of backtracking during this sequence at absolutely zero penalty, so the player can afford to take their time.
6. After encountering and downing a ZPU and parking the boat, the remainder of this mission is boots on the ground. What is the first weapon the player wields here?

Answer: Commando

Unfortunately, this Commando has been given an obnoxious ACOG scope for some reason that tarnishes its close ranged quality of life. For a secondary weapon, the player has a KS23, so at least they have something for close quarters.
7. As the S.O.G. advances, Reznov says something about Lev Kravchenko that prompts a response from one of the others. Who responds to what 'Reznov' says about Kravchenko?

Answer: Bowman

Of course, as the player would soon find out, this was not really Reznov who remarked about Kravchenko. However, the player is directly experiencing this event through the perspective of the thoroughly brainwashed, unreliable narrator Mason. Mason perceives that Reznov says "I feel it, Kravchenko must be near." And from Mason's point of view, Bowman responds by saying "Say again?"

Bowman's response sounded confused, because as it turns out, it was actually Mason, and not Reznov, who spoke of Kravchenko here. Bowman sounding confused would have made perfect sense, as Mason would have been speaking in a different tone of voice, and under a different frame of mind, believing it to be Reznov actually saying this.

This is the umpteenth subtle jab that the game gives to the player, telling them that not all is entirely right in what they are perceiving at a surface level. It's small little things like this that created a psychological thriller of a campaign as a whole.
8. Which of the following is a weapon that the player can potentially pick up during this mission?

Answer: AK74U

Enemy Spetsnaz will be frequently found using this, an RPK, or PM63 at relatively equal frequencies. For some reason, the KS23 is also a possible drop, but it is dropped at a much, much lower rate than the aforementioned three. This is funny since the player already begins the mission with a KS23.
9. Intel found in this mission takes a strange turn. On the first piece found, it appears at least two documenters were at odds with one another; one tries to describe the death of a high level operative, the other tries to scrub this description. What operative perished in this sequence?

Answer: Walter Kurtz

This is a very funny easter egg with a pretty massive set of origins. To "Call of Duty" lore, there is no significant character by this name. It is almost definitely a reference or a call out to Walter Kurtz, a Colonel of the US Army in the 1979 film "Apocalypse Now".

What's funny is, the Kurtz in this film was himself a reference to a character by the same name in the 1899 novella titled "Heart of Darkness". In this story, Kurtz is a respected first-class agent who is a major part of the story, and eventually dies of illness.

It may seem out of place, but as "Apocalypse Now" is a Vietnam War film, and the entirety of this campaign is based during the Vietnam War era, it matches the setting pretty well.
10. Intel goes in depth on Kravchenko and Dragovich's efforts in 'testing' Nova 6. They aren't just butchering innocents doing this; what other nefarious goal do they have?

Answer: Framing the US

In a sickening twist, Kravchenko reportedly, per the intel, has had his men retrieve and preserve the corpses of fallen S.O.G operatives found in various battlefields. Then, when 'testing' Nova 6 on indigenous or third world peoples, which results in them dying, Kravchenko would order his men to plant S.O.G corpses around the site.

This would make it seem as if the US, and not the Russians, was responsible for the massacre.
