Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Never fails

Answer: Master Ball

The Master Ball is a rare type of Pokeball that never fails to capture a Pokemon. Often, a Master Ball can only be obtained a small, limited number of times per game. Players will often save the Master Ball for rare Pokemon, legendaries, shiny Pokemon or roaming Pokemon.

The only times a Master Ball will fail to capture a Pokemon is when it is used on a Pokemon that cannot be captured such as those owned by another trainer or an in-game event that locks a Pokemon from being captured until defeated.
2. Increased chance of success at night and in caves

Answer: Dusk Ball

Dusk Balls are Pokeballs with an increased chance of success in dark areas such as during the night or in caves, dungeons and caverns. Dusk Balls have a catch multiplier of 3.5 meaning they will catch Pokemon in the relevant areas 3.5 times more often than regular Pokeballs. A Dusk Ball's multiplier is not active inside buildings, regardless of the time of day.
3. Can be thrown from far away

Answer: Jet Ball

Jet Balls debuted in "Pokemon Legends: Arceus" (Switch) and can be used to capture Pokemon a long distance away. The catching mechanics in this game are different from most main series games as the player can sneak up on Pokemon and catch them by surprise. Jet Balls make it easier to surprise Pokemon since the player need not be close to them to catch.
4. Increased chance of success on lower level Pokemon

Answer: Nest Ball

The chance of success of catching a Pokemon with a Nest Ball varies by game. But generally speaking, the lower level the Pokemon the higher the chance of a success. Despite common belief, the level of the player's Pokemon does not factor in the success rate of using a Nest Ball.

It all depends on the level of the Pokemon being caught. The Level Ball is the Pokeball where the player's Pokemon's level matters.
5. Increased friendship with Pokemon

Answer: Luxury Ball

Pokemon caught in a Luxury Ball will grow their friendship with their trainer at a fast level than other Pokemon. This can be helpful when training Pokemon that evolve via high friendship. Although not the same, the Friend Ball is a similar type of Poke Ball. Pokemon caught in a Friend Ball see a boost to their base friendship but not boost to friendship as it increases which is what a Luxury Ball does.
6. Increased success on water and bug Pokemon

Answer: Net Ball

Net Balls have an increased chance of catching most water and bug Pokemon. The exceptions are Ultra Beasts which do not see a boost even if they are bug type (there are no natural water type Ultra Beasts). If a Pokemon is both water and bug type, such as Surskit, the boost is not doubled.
7. Increased success on Pokemon found underwater

Answer: Dive Ball

Dive Balls have an increased chance of success on Pokemon found underwater or in the water in games without deep sea exploration. The boost makes the success rate of catching the Pokemon 3.5 times more likely than with a regular Pokeball. The boost only applies to Pokemon in or on the water and not those flying above water.
8. Increased success on Pokemon lower leveled than the player's.

Answer: Level Ball

The Level Ball functions similarly to the Nest Ball. However, the boost is contingent on how many levels the wild Pokemon is compared to the player's Pokemon. At maximum, the Level Ball can see an 8 times boost to its success rate if the player's Pokemon is four times the level of the wild Pokemon target.
9. Increased success on opposite gendered Pokemon

Answer: Love Ball

The Love Ball has increased chance of success against a Pokemon of the opposite gender of the player's Pokemon. If the wild Pokemon is the same species but opposite gender of the player's Pokemon, the success rate grows to 8 times as likely when compared to a regular Pokeball. If either Pokemon is genderless or the same gender, there is no boost.
10. Increased chance of success on Pokemon caught on a fishing rod

Answer: Lure Ball

The Lure Ball has increased chance of success when used against a Pokemon the player has hooked on a fishing rod. In games where the Lure Ball appears but fishing does not, the Lure Ball acts like a Dive Ball with a boost when used against water Pokemon.
