Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the first area, the enemy variety mostly consists of a fairly weak foe. What enemy makes up most of the Undead Burg?

Answer: Hollow

Hollows have little HP, no armor, have small weapons if even any weapons at all, and move very slowly. They are aggressive and can rack up surprisingly decent damage in a flurry of a combo, but anyone playing with even a modicum of caution can nullify this easily.
2. At first glance, Undead Burg's first bonfire seems fairly ho-hum. Later in the game, however, the player will discover it connects to another whole area. What area?

Answer: Undead Parish

There is a small ladder that hasn't been fully opened sitting atop a small ledge just overseeing the bonfire. It's too high up to reach when first seen, but later, the player can kick the ladder down to the bonfire and open up a shortcut.
3. Very early on, a merchant is met. He doesn't have a name, but he seems to have a kid who does have a name. Who is the Undead Burg merchant's kid's name?

Answer: Yulia

If the player decides to kill him, his dying words will be "My dear little Yulia" before fading away. Apart from this, he will vaguely hint at how he has a kid, as he implores the player to buy stuff from his shop to support his kid.
4. Interestingly, the Undead Burg merchant drops a very powerful early game katana if the player kills him. What katana is this?

Answer: Uchigatana

The Uchigatana will be by far the strongest weapon the player can get their hands on if they're aiming for a Dexterity build, for this stage of the game. It can only be acquired by killing the merchant, as he doesn't sell it. When attacking him, he doesn't use it to defend himself either. Why does he have it at all? We may never know.
5. About halfway through the area, the player will encounter a brutal mini boss, one who has superior stats to even the boss of the area itself. Who is this?

Answer: Black Knight

Sitting just underneath a ledge with a treasure chest on it, venturing down one flight of stairs will bring the player face to face with this menace. At this stage of the game, it is highly likely that every single one of the knight's attacks will kill in a single blow.

However, they can both be parried and backstabbed, making the fight much more winnable if the player has a fast roll and a steady hand on the dodge (or parry) button.
6. There is a treasure chest sitting directly over the stairs which lead to the area mini boss. What is inside the chest?

Answer: Gold Pine Resin

Resin, when used, temporarily buffs the weapon held in the right hand with the effects of whatever element Resin is used. Gold Pine Resin applies Lightning. As it happens, both the Black Knight and Taurus Demon carry weaknesses to Lightning. That makes a use case for this item extremely straightforward.
7. Who is the boss of the Undead Burg?

Answer: Taurus Demon

The Taurus Demon is basically a reskin of the Asylum Demon. They even share the same boss music. The only significant difference comes from the boss room for the demon.
8. Interestingly, the boss encounter at Undead Burg has a lot of variety as far as how, or where, it can be tackled. From within the boss room, how many different locations can the player choose to fight in?

Answer: Three

The player can either run right up to the demon and fight it head on, they can meet it halfway at the center of the bridge inside the Demon's room, or they can climb a ladder right next to the fog door and wait for the demon to come to them entirely. Generally, the latter is typically easiest, but this is both subjective and not particularly polarizing to begin with.
9. After clearing the Undead Burg, the player can advance towards the Lower Burg. First, they'll meet a fan favorite, eternally iconic NPC gazing at the sun, who will help the player greatly. Who is this?

Answer: Solaire of Astora

Solaire is easily the most recognizable, memorable, beloved NPC in all of From Software history, and it isn't even close. His glorious 'incandescence' begins here, where he will greet the player and bestow upon them the White Sign Soapstone, an item needed for cooperative multiplayer.
10. Right after departing the Undead Burg boss room, the player will soon notice a giant dragon fly overhead, and roost atop a gatefront at the end of a large bridge. This proves quite the obstacle. How much damage does the dragon deal?

Answer: Infinite

If the player is foolish enough to actually approach the dragon, they will instantly be incinerated for an immediate death. The only way to kill the dragon is to get an enormous distance away from it and shoot it with arrows. This will, however, prompt the dragon to slowly walk up to the player, where it will one-shot them if the player does not flee, and fast. Tedious hit and run is needed to slay this dragon.
11. As they arrive upon the Lower Burg, the player gains the opportunity to rescue an NPC who can later be helpful. Who is this?

Answer: Griggs of Vinheim

The player must obtain the Residence Key from the Undead Burg merchant to free Griggs from being trapped inside of a house. After doing so, the next time the player reloads the areas, Griggs will be gone, departed for Firelink Shrine.
12. Traveling down the dark alley of the Lower Burg can be treacherous. The enemies here are Assassins. Which of the following can Assassins do?

Answer: Backstab the player

Even to a character with a lot of health and good armor, backstabs do a ton of damage. To a player with low health and poor armor, one single backstab can kill in one hit from full health. Watch your back!
13. Who is the boss of Lower Burg?

Answer: Capra Demon

The Capra Demon is a mean killing machine. It duals wields two Demon Great Machetes and is incredibly aggressive in close quarters. It also cannot be staggered, parried or backstabbed, so remaining close to it for extended periods of time is generally a bad idea.
14. The boss of Lower Burg isn't alone. It comes with a small pack of minions. What enemies are these?

Answer: Hounds

Despite how imposing the Capra Dsmon is, his pets can potentially be even more troublesome. There are three, they afflict Bleed build up when they hit, they attack quickly and can easily stunlock the player if not dealt with very quickly. Uniquely, even once Capra Demon is slain, these dogs will continue to respawn and will attack the player again if they wander too close to Capra Demon's boss room.
15. When clearing the Lower Burg boss, the player gains a very important key. What key is this?

Answer: Key to the Depths

As the name clearly states, this key is needed to access the Depths. The Master Key will open the door as well however, so if the player has the Master Key, Capra Demon becomes an entirely optional boss fight.
