After leaving Destiny Islands, Sora finds himself in Traverse Town. It is here that you can find the "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" residence; Pongo and Perdita's house. One of the mini-objectives of "Kingdom Hearts" is to find 99 dalmatian puppies and return them to their parents, who reward you with increasingly better items the more puppies you find. It is also here in Traverse Town where you find a book owned by Merlin that contains the Hundred Acre Wood from "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree". Throughout the game, Sora collects Torn Pages which unlock bits of the world and Pooh's memory along with it.

Eight other entire worlds are based on Disney films. The first world you come across is Wonderland, appropriately named as it's the location from "Alice in Wonderland". Finishing this world will open up Olympus Coliseum from "Hercules" and Deep Jungle from "Tarzan". "Aladdin" is next on the list as Sora travels to Agrabah, which opens up the worlds for "The Little Mermaid" and "A Nightmare Before Christmas" (called Atlantica and Halloween Town, respectively). In your gummi ship, a moving world appears... Monstro the whale from "Pinocchio" swallows you and his insides also become a world to visit! Neverland from "Peter Pan" is the final Disney world discovered. Sora also meets main characters from these worlds: Alice, Hercules, Tarzan, Aladdin, Ariel, Jack Skellington, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan.

The other films are also all found within "Kingdom Hearts 1" through character (though most can also be found as worlds in later entries in the series). Cinderella of the self-titled film, Snow White of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", and Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty" all make appearances as Princesses of Heart. Maleficent, also from "Sleeping Beauty", is one of the main villains. Simba from "The Lion King", Mushu from "Mulan", and Dumbo from "Dumbo" all make appearances as characters Sora can summon to aid in battle.
