Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. DK will plunge into the Lagoon Layer following a Banandium Bunch from what previous location?

Answer: Ingot Isle

Jumping straight into a pit from where Ingot Isle was left on Sublayer 10, DK winds up falling through the sky all the way to Sublayer 100 and the Lagoon Layer, starting off at the tip of Ape Cape to collect his reward for defeating a Crockoid (his first!) at the top level of Baboomtown.

It means he'll emerge into a bright and sunny environment populated by Salvager Monkeys, blue and unwelcoming denizens of this layer who appear to have their own, small fishing community.
2. The Lagoon Layer is the first location at which DK can collect which of these items?

Answer: Fossil

Although anyone plowing through the Layers found in "Bananza" would be wise to smash and collect every single thing, the Fossils that start appearing as early as Ape Cape are a good example of a must-grab. Appearing in different sizes and rarities throughout the game, these collectible items can be found on walls and in hidden caverns (or even, sometimes, in chests) and can be spent in Style Shops for unique cosmetics. Several different Layers have these inside them, but the ones in the Lagoon Layer are Ammonite, Anomalocaris, and Whale Fossils.
3. What explosive material does DK discover he can wield in this Layer?

Answer: Boom Bombs

A stone that almost seems electrified with power, this useful material comes in extremely handy not only for blowing up walls, but for harming tougher enemies. DK can grab Boom Bombs and then subsequently aim them at targets, tossing them to create a massive explosion that can free up gold, coins, and passages...or bodies, in some cases.

The first of these can be found as DK crests the hill at Ape Cape.
4. DK can find Cranky Kong in the Lagoon Layer as he claims to have come along to hunt down the perpetrators of the banana theft. How did he get there?

Answer: On Rambi's back

Positioned on a floating platform accessible by throwing rocks at dematerialized spots in the air, Cranky waits to...well...complain. Claiming to be chasing the fiend behind all these banana thefts, he believes that his presence underground will get the job done, especially with DK slacking so much (evidently).

He'll rant for a good amount of time, but at the end of it, he'll hand over a Banandium Gem. Rambi, who he claimed to ride down on, stands nearby with packs attached to his back.
5. Fixing the water shortage at the Reservoir will drop DK to Sublayer 101. Where does this place him?

Answer: Salvager's Landing

One of the early objectives, and perhaps a way to get DK into the locals' good graces, is to fix an apparent water shortage at the Lagoon Layer Reservoir, which has been blocked by one of the massive stakes that DK previously saw in Baboomtown. Defeating the enemies here with rocks or Boom Bombs will allow him to find the key to unlock this impediment and it'll create a Banandum Bunch that will plunge down the waterfall into Sublayer 101. DK can follow with ease, and it'll put him into Salvager's Landing, the home of the Salvager Monkeys.
6. How many plugs does DK need to destroy on Sublayer 101 to restore the lagoon's water level?

Answer: Three

Upon landing in Salvager's Landing, DK will come to realize that the real effects of a lack of water come into play for the Salvager Monkeys there in their home village and he'll be tasked with destroying a trio of concrete pillars created by, as the locals say, 'some weird guys'.

The only way to do this is by collecting Boom Bombs and tossing them at the offending obstacles, creating paths along the way to help get to each successive one. The locals will tell you where to go next-- there is an order.
7. The Kong Elder will request which of these, located nearby?

Answer: Ancient Record

The massive Kong Elder, the presiding elder of Salvager's Landing, sits on the far end of the town and can be accessed once two of the water plugs have been cleared and the bridge is raised to grant passage to the Elder Court. Once the best salvager in the whole underground, the Kong Elder now claims he's an aspiring DJ, and he asks DK for an Ancient Record so that they can make use of his Bananza. All he needs to do is grab it from the nearby platform and carry it over, placing it on the turntable in front of the monkey.

It'll play on its own.
8. Once DK learns how to activate his Bananza, who will the Odd Rock transform into?

Answer: Pauline

The Kong Elder will teach DK and the Odd Rock how to combine their powers for the first Bananza, and in doing so DK will come to discover that his companion is actually a young girl, Pauline, who's been trapped in her odd form by VoidCo. Fortunately, the Bananza will free her from this, though she'll elect to follow DK along on his adventure in an effort to reach the surface once again.

The Kong Elder will also advise them to head downwards, through the Planet Core, to get to where they need to be.

It's a convenient route since those who reach the Planet Core "will earn their greatest wish and more."
9. Sublevel 102 is known by what name?

Answer: Chimpy Channel

Once DK and Pauline proceed down the path provided for them by the Elder Kong, they'll pass through a series of shipping crates and descend into Sublevel 102 beneath. Known as Chimpy Channel, it's a smaller area that leads to a battle arena, and here is where they'll encounter the Void King, the President of VoidCo (the most powerful mining company on the planet), and his associates.

They're there for Pauline, but they're also there on a new extraction venture in the Planet Core. The situation certainly sets the tone for a game-long conflict.
10. The boss encounter found at the end of Lagoon Layer is with which of the following?

Answer: Peekabruiser

Void King will leave Grumpy Kong behind to do away with DK and Pauline, but this hefty foe will outsource the fight to one of the tools at his disposal, Peekabruiser, which will turn out to be a mass of Peekaboopoids that pull in the stones from the battle arena to make a larger form and take on the duo. While DK can take on the Peekaboopoids by simply punching them away, the bigger ordeal will involve chipping away at the boss' larger shell, and this can be done effectively with DK's new Bananza form or the rare Boom Bombs found around the edges of the battlefield.

When Peekabruiser is destroyed, Grumpy Kong will be left to sit and wonder about his next steps and a sinkhole will form, allowing passage to the adventure's next Layer below.
