"Minecraft" Mobs - Passive or Hostile? Quiz

Axolotls are only found in the Lush Cave biomes, where they can be used to hunt underwater hostile mobs like fish or squids. They do not attack players, but will attack other aquatic mobs except for dolphins, turtles, and other axolotls. If a mob is defeated while fighting against an axolotl, the player will receive Regeneration and be cleared of their Mining Fatigue.

Cows are found in many of the grassy biomes. While they are totally harmless, they are also very useful. They provide the player with raw beef and milk. In addition they also drop leather that can be used for books, armor, and other items. They like wheat, which can be used for breeding and building a farm. Having cows around means that a player always has a supply of important materials.

Striders form one of just a few passive mobs in the Nether. Since they are not harmed by the lava there, they are great for traveling long distances. Two items, however, are needed before they can be ridden - a saddle and warped fungus on a stick. Warped fungus on a stick is used to steer the Strider, and if you click on it, the Strider will go faster!

Did you know that Snow Golems actually have a face? The pumpkin that is seen actually serves as its helmet! Snow Golems throw snowballs at Hostile Mobs to make them fall back, but doing this tends to make them even more hostile. The snowballs do, however, hurt Blazes by inflicting three damage points on them. Snow Golems survive and make trails in cold biomes, but do not last in water or hot biomes.

Villagers are found in many "Minecraft" biomes, and are mostly used in trading for needed supplies. A player does need emeralds in order to trade with them. Villagers have specialized occupations; the armorer sells armor, the butcher sells meat, and the librarian sells enchanted books. Trading with the Villagers makes it easier for players to acquire items - like diamond armor - that can otherwise be difficult to find.

Creepers are only found in the Overworld, and are typically found in many of the biomes there. They especially like the night or dark caves. It is a good idea for players to keep either a cat or an ocelot as a bodyguard, as Creepers are afraid of them! Creepers will explode themselves and what is close to them, however, before they explode players will hear a fuse hissing sound.

Not only are they the game's official mascot, they also drop gunpowder when they are defeated.

Hostile mobs found in the Overworld, Pillagers are armed with crossbows that shoot arrows at players. Be careful! Pillagers look like Illagers because they share the same ancestry. They were banished from villages because they were violent, and patrols will sometimes will stage raids against them. Pillagers build outposts from which they launch their attacks. Sometimes players can pick up dropped arrows or crossbows they leave behind.

In "Minecraft", skeletons live in dark places in both the Overworld and Nether. They can shoot players with their bows and arrows, but they don't like tame or wild wolves, so it's a good idea to keep one nearby if possible! In order for them to survive in the daytime, skeletons must stand in either water or the shade or wear a helmet. Defeating a skeleton will provide bones used to tame more wolves or make fertilizer for crops and two arrows.

Witches are typically found in swamp biomes or in the darkness of the Overworld. They attack players on sight and splash harmful potions on them. Because these potions can make a player slow or weak or even poison them, it is important to always be able to clear the effect; it is best to have a bucket of milk nearby.

But be sure that you don't drink your milk until the witch is finished hurling all her potion!

Ghasts, large ghost-like creatures with tentacles, are found floating around in the Nether dimension. The extreme heat of the region causes them discomfort and their faces are stained with tears. Players can hear them coming, as they emit crying sounds.

They shoot fireballs that players can send back with a sword or arrow; this will kill the Ghast, which drops gunpowder when it dies in this way. Ghast tears, which are used to make Potions of Regeneration, can also be collected when a Ghast is killed. Be careful, however, not to kill them over a lava ocean because the tear will burn and disappear.
