"Minecraft" 1.21 Basics: Biomes Quiz
Scientifically classifying biomes is a bit tricky because there is no agreement on criteria that should be used for that purpose; some sources say there are five, some say fourteen. That is not the case in "Minecraft" 1.21, where biomes abound. This is a renovated/adopted version of an old quiz by author katlova75

In "Minecraft", biomes are different regions in the Overworld, Nether, and The End. Each biome contains items that are necessary for survival, as well as treasure and dangerous mobs. It is important for players to know which resources are available in each biome, and collect them for use, depending on the goals that have been set.
The Overland biomes listed here include Cherry Grove, Badlands, Mushroom Fields, Dark Forest, and Pale Garden. Cherry Grove was added in the 1.20 update. It is very colorful, featuring pink Pakura trees. Don't forget to pink up the petals on the ground, as they can be taken to other biomes! They can also be used to make pink dye. While the cherry trees provide beautiful scenery, the pink wood also provides a change from the other colors of wood that can be collected - if a pink house is what is desired, of course! Passive mobs, like rabbits and sheep, can be found here, along with bees, emeralds, coal, and iron.
The Pale Garden was added in 2024; it is spooky, but amazing. It changes between night and day, especially with the dense fog, and even has sound changes. Eyeblossom flowers, used for pots or dye, are found here, along with Pale Oak. But watch out for the Creakings, a mob that only lives in the Pale Garden. Don't take your eyes off of them! Killing them makes beneficial changes in the wood, but their heart has to be destroyed, which might prove to be a bit tricky.
There is nothing but red sand and terracotta in the Badlands, which was added in 2024, but it is a beautiful place to explore. Be sure to take advantage of the facts the gold ore and mineshafts spawn faster here, and there might even been some loot chests that are easy to find!
Mycelium, and type of dirt, covers the Mushroom Fields, which are islands away from the rest of the land. Here there are giant mushrooms to find, along with Mooshrooms, which are cows made of mushrooms that can be used for good or milk. This is a relatively safe area, as hostile mobs do not spawn here.
Home to huge dark oak trees with 2x2 trunks, Dark Forest provides great wood for "Minecraft" building. Woodland mansions are found here that can contains valuable treasure. Because there is little light, there are dangerous Illiger mobs to be found that can even form during the daytime.
Underground biomes include The Deep Dark and Lush Caves. Players know they have entered The Deep Dark when they see glittering blue colors and the Sculk Blocks, which can be used to create Sensors or Shriekers that assist players. While these are also an indication that the Ancient Cities, which housed an ancient civilization, are nearby and house all kinds of treasure, be sure to be on the lookout for "Minecraft" Warden mob, that spawns naturally here. They are especially sensitive to sounds and vibrations.
Lush Caves, with their beautiful glow berries and glow lichens, are sights to behold! If you are above ground, be sure to be on the lookout for Azalea oak trees; their roots are sunk into Lush Caves. There you may find Axolotls that can be tamed and used for underwater combat, or Glow Squids, that release ink sacs used in crafting. There are, however, Zombies, Creepers, and Spiders here, so be on the lookout!
Nether biomes were updated in 2020, and the Crimson Forest, Nether Waste, and Basalt Delta fall into this category. The Crimson Forest, with all its bright red vines, trees, and plants, is aptly named. Here players find somewhat friendly Piglins; just be sure to wear something gold! But watch out for those nasty Hoglins! They are a great food source, but can form aggressive mobs. Nether gold ore and quartz ore are also found in Crimson Forest, and be sure to collect the vines and fungi that can be used in building.
With its basalt blocks unevenly spaced around the area, the Basalt Delta is extremely difficult to cross, but it contains blackstone and basalt that can be used in crafting tools and buildings. Don't forget about the Magma Cubes, from which Magna Cream is farmed for use in building and potions. Also, the Lava Walls can provide a use source of crafting materials, such as obsidian or molten glass.
The Nether Waste is basically the same as the old Nether, where players can find building materials. While it is very dangerous, it contains a lot of important resources like Nether gold and quartz, Soul Sand, which can help slow mob attacks, and, of course, the all-important Netherite, which is stronger than diamonds. It is also home to mobs like Skeletons and Ghasts, so be extra careful! There aren't very many places to hide, although there is an occasional Nether Fortress, which can yield hard-to-find resources.
The list of incorrect answers came from the World Wildlife Fund, that separates regions into terrestrial, freshwater, and marine biomes with smaller ecoregions that are also called biomes. Flooded Grasslands and Savannahs, Montane Grasslands and Shrublands, Temperate Coniferous Forest, Tropical and Subtropical Dry Broadleaf Forests, and Temperate Broadleaf and Mixed Forests are all part of their terrestrial biome system. Of course, there are some like Desert, Tundra, and Taiga that are also found in "Minecraft", but most of the gaming biomes have names that are more fun and descriptive.
