Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Right away, once the player finishes the tutorial, they'll find a man by the name of White Mask Varre greet them in the massive open world. Varre will suggest the player travel to a specific location. Where does he tell them to go?

Answer: Stormveil Castle

Stormveil is home to Godrick the Grafted, the earliest accessible Remembrance Boss. Depending on player decision, he could be a mandatory boss to defeat.
2. "Elden Ring" became unique for how it handled 'mandatory' bosses or, bosses which must be defeated in order for the player to eventually finish the game. How many mandatory bosses are in this game, out of a total of 141?

Answer: Nine

In no particular order, the player must defeat two Remembrance Bosses and then Godfrey, First Elden Lord in his shade form. The player has the ability to choose which Remembrance Bosses, which will be their pick of Godrick the Grafted, Renalla the Queen of the Full Moon, Starscourge Radahn, Rykard the Lord of Blasphemy, Mohg the Lord of Blood, the Regal Ancestor Spirit or Malenia the Goddess of Rot. These must be defeated before the player can encounter Morgott the Omen King, another mandatory boss. After defeating Morgott, Fire Giant is the next mandatory boss. After him, the player must go through the Godskin Duo, Maliketh the Black Blade, Hoarah Loux the Warrior and, finally, Radagon of the Golden Order and Elden Beast, the final boss fight of the game.

This may seem quite exhausting, but it's actually the smallest amount of mandatory Bosses seen in a From Software game up to this point, despite the game having far more boss fights in general than any other game in that timeframe.
3. Around halfway through the average playthrough, the player will encounter a problem- they are meant to travel to the Altus Plateau using the Grand Lift of Rold. However, upon initially trying to use the lift, it seems there's something missing. What does the player need to activate the lift?

Answer: Dectus Medallions

There are two Dectus Medallions the player must find to use the Grand Lift. One is found at Castle Morne, the other at Fort Faroth. Neither requires the player to defeat a boss or even kill anything at all to get to them, so if the player knows where they're going, they could easily acquire both Medallions in mere minutes.
4. A clever player who knows how to read an intricate map might notice that, while using the Grand Lift is a way to get to the Altus Plateau, there's also a dungeon the player could go through to reach the Altus Plateau. What dungeon is this?

Answer: Ruin-Strewn Precipice

The Ruin-Strewn Precipice is a very long dungeon that also doubles as a mine. It houses numerous Smithing Stone 3-4s as well as their Somber counterparts. The boss of the area is Magma Wyrm Makar, a massive dragon wielding an enormous curved greatsword. Upon defeating him, the player gets their version of his weapon along with a Dragon Heart. Proceeding beyond his boss room will see the player emerge from the dungeon and be greeted by a scenic shot of none other than the Altus Plateau.
5. As the player just about finishes Mountaintop of the Giants, they're treated to a boss fight with the Fire Giant. When Fire Giant gets to about 50% of his health, a cutscene plays where the Fire Giant does something shocking, grotesque and, above all, extremely memorable and cinematic. What does he do during this cutscene?

Answer: Rip off one of his legs

The cutscene starts with the Fire Giant yelling in painful agony as his left leg collapses and breaks under him. He reaches towards it, rips it off, and then offers it as some sort of sacrifice to what appears to be the Fell God, who accepts his leg and then bolsters the Fire Giant's power in return.

The second phase is played with the Giant kneeling and making much more use of Fell God based pyromancies. These can quickly get very overwhelming for close distance players, so ranged combat or combat while riding Torrent so the player can quickly back off is recommended.
6. Up to the Mountaintop of the Giants, the player has been receiving the aid of Melina, who has acted as a psuedo-maiden of sorts to allow the player to make the trip. Here, after defeating Fire Giant, Melina is destined to die, sacrificing herself to burn the Erdtree. That is, unless the player visits this specific area and completes a questline first. Where must the player go in order to save Melina?

Answer: Subterranean Shunning Grounds

Once the player reaches this area, they must defeat Mohg the Omen and proceed down a lengthy section of dangerous platforming, falling from platform down to platform for a considerable way until they reach the bottom. From here, the player must unequip all of their armor, interact with the Frenzied Fingers, and in doing so, they will be able to burn the Erdtree themselves and won't need Melina to die accomplishing this.

It is worth noting that doing this will lock the player out of all endings except for the "Lord of Frenzied Flame" ending. As such, if the player wanted to do Ranni's questline in order to obtain the Age of Stars ending, they will be unable to do both and must make a difficult decision. Once the player interacts with the Frenzied Fingers, they have essentially reached the point of no return.
7. Starscourge Radahn was the first boss From Software developed where the player can summon up to a staggering seven NPCs to help them fight him. As far as NPC summons for boss fights go, this boss also was notable for one other 'first'. Which of the following is true about the summonable NPCs for this fight?

Answer: They can be summoned again even after death

The player has the ability to summon Blaidd the Half-Wolf, Patches the Untethered, Alexander the Warrior Jar, Okina, Great-Horned Tragoth and Finger Maiden Therolina. Once Radahn's second phase begins, the player will now be able to summon Castellan Jerren as well.

When any of these NPCs die, they will go on a 25-second cooldown. After this, they will have visible summon signs on a random point in the boss arena, where the player can simply summon them back. This can be done infinitely, meaning the player technically could win this fight without ever actually attacking Radahn directly, though it would be extremely slow given how strong he is and how weak the NPCs generally are.

It is also worth noting that summoning these NPCs will not have an impact on Radahn's health, which is also a first.
8. The largest questline to not be tied to an ending belongs to Sorceress Sellen. She can be found at the Waypoint Ruins... or can she? The player indeed finds her here, but something is indeed amiss. What trickery is at play here?

Answer: Sellen is an illusion here

As it turns out, the 'real' Sellen is found, imprisoned at the Laskyar Ruins. The Sellen found inside Waypoint Ruins is an illusion, though it is a sentient one that seems to allow the real Sellen to know who the player is when they find her. Eventually, the player will need to 'kill' the imprisoned Sellen, take her soul to a vessel found inside the Raya Lucaria Academy, and give it to a body that is not imprisoned.
9. Sorceress Sellen's questline ends with quite the climax. She is being hunted by an NPC who will confront her. Both of them will request the player's help in killing the other. Who is trying to have Sellen killed? (Hint- this NPC is a possible summon to help fight Starscourge Radahn.)

Answer: Castellan Jerren

If the player chooses to help Jerren, assuming they are successful, he will reward them with an Ancient Dragon Somber Smithing Stone, required to get a Somber weapon from +9 to its max at +10- an extremely useful reward at that. If they choose to help Sellen, she will reward them with the Lusat's Staff, arguably the best staff in the entire game and an amazing reward for sorcerers.
10. The all-time fan favorite Patches made a return in this game, found inside the Murkwater Cave. He appears as the boss of this cave, but he has one unique mechanic entirely exclusive to himself that takes place when he reaches half health. What does he do here?

Answer: He forfeits

Patches will put his greatshield on top of him facing up and will cower underneath it as he begs for mercy. If the player obliges, roughly ten seconds will pass and the fight will end. He will reward them with a couple of golden runes and by giving them access ro his shop. Patches' shop carries some really nice items such as the Margit's Shackle, a Stonesword Key and a couple of nice pieces of equipment.
