1. What was the original name of "Pac-Man"?

Answer: Puck Man

The creator of "Puck Man" ultimately changed the name to "Pac-Man" because he feared some ridiculous teens might confuse "puck" with a, uh, swear word. The title "Puck Man" was derived from the Japanese for gobbling something up, "paku paku taberu".

The name of "Puck Man" was developed from two merged ideas. One was the resemblance to a puck, and the other was the Japanese onomatopoeic phrase paku-paku taberu, with the 'paku-paku' part describing the sound of a mouth opening and closing widely and repeatedly. When Bally Midway licensed the game in North America, they changed the name to "Pac-Man" to avoid the possibility of vandalism turning the name into something vulgar.

General Computer Corporation named the video game "Crazy Otto". They created the unauthorized video game and sold it to Midway without the permission of "Pac-Man" owners (Namco LTD). Unlike in the "Pac-Man" game, the fruits actually move around the maze before disappearing in the warp tunnels.
