1. Tree bull cliff

Answer: Treble Clef

This is one of the main clefs used in reading music. It is the highest pitched clef used. There are four clefs in total, the treble, alto, tenor and bass clefs.
2. Press toe

Answer: Presto

A tempo marking for a piece of music. If Presto is written at the top of a piece of music it would be played quickly and lively.
3. Thyme seek gnat your

Answer: Time Signature

A time signature is the numbers written at the beginning of the stave of a piece of music just after the clef. These numbers tell you how many beats are in each bar of the music. A time signature of 3/4 would inform a musician that there are three crotched beats to each bar in the music.
4. Hand Auntie

Answer: Andante

A tempo marking for a piece of music. Andante means to play 'at a walking pace.'
5. See me breathe

Answer: semibreve

A semibreveis a length of a note in music. A semibreve lasts for the equivalent of four crotchet beats. It is one of the longest notes that is written in music in recent years since the use of the breve (eight crotchet beats)has diminished.
6. Ale egg great toe

Answer: Allegretto

A tempo marking for a piece of music. Allegro means a quick lively rate of movement. Allegretto is stated to be 'quick, but not as quick as allegro.'

The second highest of the four clefs used. An instrument that commonly uses this clef is the alto saxophone.

Answer: Major

In music terms, major means 'greater than a semitone' either in interval or in difference of pitch from another tone. A lot of music you will hear will be written in either a major or minor key.

One of the smallest notes you will find in written music! A demisemiquaver lasts for one eigth of a crotchet beat. There is also the hemidemisemiquaver which lasts for one sixteenth of a crotchet beat but this is not often used which is a relief for musicians!

Answer: Crescendo

Crescendo, or Cresc. as it is often abbrieviated means to gradually get louder during a piece of music. Diminuendo means to gradually get softer. I hope you have enjoyed this quiz and maybe also learnt something about music making in the process!
