Michael Douglas (born 1944) is an award winning American actor and director. His father, mother, step-mother and all three of his brothers have been involved with the entertainment industry.

Previously Michael Douglas had been married to Diandra Luker for twenty-three years. The beautiful young Welsh girl was Catherine Zeta-Jones, and they married in November 2000, after his divorce. The new baby boy was Dylan Michael, born in August 2000; he was joined by a sister, Carys Zeta, in April 2003.

Michael Jordan (born 1963) was a basketball player, playing for the Chicago Bulls from 1984 to 1993, before retiring to play baseball for two years. He played for the Bulls again before retiring for the second time to take on a role as director of operations and part owner of the Washington Wizards in 1999. Two years later he started playing for that team, before retiring for a third time in 2003.

As well as promoting Fruit of the Loom products, Michael Jordan has also endorsed Nike and Gatorade, and appeared on Wheaties cereal packets.

Michael Keaton (born 1951) is an award-winning actor. His early career, in his home state of Pennsylvania, included appearing in, and working as a production assistant on, the popular children's show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood". He moved to California, where he worked with John Belushi in the comedy "Working Stiffs". This led to roles in a number of comedy films, including "Night Shift", "Johnny Dangerously" and "Beetlejuice".

When Tim Burton cast Michael Keaton in the title role for the 1989 film "Batman", he was finally able to move away from comedy. He played the role again in the 1992 sequel "Batman Returns" before moving on to many other different roles. He played the part of Batman once more in the 2023 film "The Flash".

Michael Jackson (1958 - 2009) was an award winning musician. He was the eighth child in the Jackson family from Indiana. With his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon, he was part of the 1960s group the Jackson 5. His solo career began in the 1970s, and his rise to fame was meteoric.

Michael Jackson won many awards both in the USA and overseas. His 1992 album "Thriller" has been described as the best selling album ever by Guinness World Records.

Michael Crichton (1942 - 2008) was known as best selling author, who was also involved in the film industry. He planned a career as a writer from a young age and started a degree course in English before switching to science and qualifying as a doctor.

"The Andromeda Strain" was the first novel published under his own name; it came out in the same year that he finished his studies, although there were five previous books published under pseudonyms. He published twenty-five books in his life-time. Perhaps the best-known is "Jurassic Park" (1990), which was adapted into a very successful film. "The Lost World" was the basis for the sequel in 1997.

Michael Caine (born 1933) is a British actor who had a film career spanning just over seventy years. Some of his best known roles included a VC winning officer in "Zulu", and a cockney criminal in "The Italian Job". His last film role was that of a D-Day veteran escaping from his care home to attend the 70th anniversary celebrations in Normandy in "The Great Escaper".

Michael Caine also wrote three books of autobiography and, perhaps of particular interest here, several books of trivia facts. His habit of dropping obscure pieces of trivia into a conversation led to the catchphrase 'not a lot of people know that'.

Michael Crawford (born 1942) is a versatile British performer who is known for a variety of roles on stage, screen, and television. One of his earliest performances, when he was thirteen years old, was in a production of Benjamin Britten's "Let's Make an Opera" in London. He went on to take part in the farce "No Sex Please, We're British", and also "The Phantom of the Opera".

Film roles for Michael Crawford included parts in "Hello Dolly" and the title role in "Barnum" (which he had also played on stage). A completely different role was when he played the part of the unlucky and accident prone Frank Spencer in "Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em" for the BBC, when he also performed all his own stunts, never using a double.

Michael Gambon (1940 - 2023) was an award winning Irish-born British actor. Before embarking on a career in the entertainment industry, he qualified as an engineering technician, and developed a taste for antique, clocks, watches, guns and classic cars. He was invited onto the BBC programme "Top Gear", and took the final corner of the test track on two wheels, leading to the corner being named after him subsequently.

Michael Gambon's stage roles included many parts with The National Theatre under Laurence Olivier. His first film role was in the 1965 version of "Othello" based on the National Theatre production. Subsequent film roles included the host of the house party in the star-studded production "Gosford Park", and the role of Albus Dumbledore in the last six of the "Harry Potter" films. On television he was known for the lead role in Dennis Potter's "Singing Detective", and also the part of Maigret in the 1990s ITV series.

Michael Palin (born 1943) was interested in acting from a young age, appearing in a school production of "A Christmas Carol" when he was only five, and reading all the parts of a Shakespeare play to his mother when he was ten. He went on to write and act while at the University of Oxford. This led to comedy writing jobs for the BBC. The classic comedy sketch show "Monty Python's Flying Circus" ran from 1969 to 1974, and made Michael Palin and his five co-stars household names. He continued to write for the BBC after the show finished.

However Michael Palin was invited to present a documentary based on the travels of Phileas Fogg from Jules Verne's "Around the World in Eighty Days"; he made the trip in 1988 and the series was broadcast the following year. This led to more trips and travel programmes including "Pole to Pole" when he attempted to follow the 30° East line of longitude from the North Pole to the South Pole, and "Full Circle", which took him around the Pacific Ocean.

Michael Landon (1936 - 1991) was an American actor. Having grown up in New Jersey, he moved to California with a sports scholarship to a university in Los Angeles. An injury put paid to his career as an athlete, but he was spotted by a talent scout while working as a gas station attendant opposite the Warner Bros. studios.

Michael Landon's first big role was as Little Joe Cartwright in the television series "Bonanza", which ran from 1959 to 1973. He then went on to take the part of Pa in "Little House on the Prairie" from 1974 to 1983. He was also involved in both writing and directing while in both those shows.
