Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Had an encounter with three bears.

Answer: Goldilocks

Goldilocks is a rather badly behaved little girl who thinks it is okay to go into someone else's house, sit in their chairs and complain, sleep in their beds and complain and eat someone else's food, in this case porridge, and carries on complaining. It is lucky for Goldilocks that the bears are rather civilised.
2. A friend of Pooh, Winnie the Pooh that is.

Answer: Eeyore

Eeyore is an old, grey stuffed donkey who is always down in the mouth, which means he's constantly gloomy and sad. He has a tail that comes off and Christopher Robin has to re-attach it to him with a drawing pin. Tied to the end of his tail is a pink bow that is special to Eeyore and he likes it a lot. Problem is that he keeps losing it all the time. One thing that Eeyore is very good at is "Poohsticks", which he seems to win more times than anyone else.
3. Was defeated by the three Billy Goats Gruff.

Answer: Troll

"Three Billy Goats Gruff" is a Norwegian fairy tale about three goats trying to cross a bridge to get to the grass in the meadow on the other side. In this fairy tale, the three related goats, usually, but not always, depicted as brothers, have run out of grass to eat so need to cross a bridge to reach a lush meadow.

However, a fearsome troll lives under the bridge and is reputed to eat anything that crosses the bridge. The three goats, one at a time go over the bridge, smallest to largest. The first two say a bigger goat is following which will give a bigger meal.

When the third goat steps on the bridge, he is challenged by the troll. The third goat, having horns, knocks the troll off the bridge and the current carries him away. All the goats could now reach the meadow safely.
4. The druid from the "Asterix" books.

Answer: Getafix

Not only is Getafix a druid, which is a little bit like a magician or a wizard, he is also the village doctor and acts as one of its teachers. He looks old but we never seem to find out his age. He is a tall man with a long white beard that almost reaches the ground. Surprisingly, for a man who has such a big beard, he has very little hair on his head.

He is always seen wearing a white robe and a red cape and he carries with him a golden sickle. Most importantly, he is the person who makes the magic potion that gives the villagers their super strength.
5. Hedgehog created by Beatrix Potter.

Answer: Mrs Tiggy-Winkle

Mrs Tiggy-Winkle was a real live hedgehog pet of Beatrix Potter who wrote a story about her adventures. She lived in a tiny cottage and was a washer woman for other forest animals and birds. In her story a little girl called Lucie finds her cottage, stays for tea, and helps her deliver the laundry.
6. Built by Mr Geppetto.

Answer: Pinocchio

Geppetto carved Pinocchio as a wooden puppet. Pinocchio always dreams about becoming a real boy. Sometimes Pinocchio behaves badly and when he tells a lie his nose grows longer. In the Disney animated movie Pinocchio eventually, after many adventures, becomes a real boy with the help of the Blue Fairy.
7. The wizard in King Arthur's court.

Answer: Merlin

Merlin is a wizard usually found alongside King Arthur. It is thought he is the person who put the sword in the stone. He is often pictured with an owl (Archimedes in the Disney version) and fell in love with Morgan Le Fey, Arthur's half-sister. Unfortunately, she didn't feel the same, and is thought to have played a part in Merlin's death.
8. Has a friend called Captain Haddock.

Answer: Tintin

Tintin is a brave young adventurer and reporter who gets entangled in a lot of fun mysteries, accompanied by his dog Snowy. He encounters friends (and enemies) along the way. Captain Haddock, a ship's captain and twins Thompson and Thompson who are pretty useless detectives, are usually glad of Tintin's help.
9. Picked a peck of pickled peppers.

Answer: Peter Piper

"Peter Piper" is a nursery rhyme created in England in the early 1800s. It is designed to be a tongue twister, which means it would be very difficult to say quickly. Here, you try...

"Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
A peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked;
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?"
10. An elephant from "The Jungle Book" (1967 film).

Answer: Winifred

Winifred is a female Indian Elephant in "The Jungle Book" (1967). She is a member of the jungle patrol. Colonel Hathi is her husband. She is very sarcastic with her husband and always reminds him of his many faults However, she does care about Mowgli and convinces her husband to start a search party for him when he goes missing. Winifred's son, Hathi Jr., becomes friends with Mowgli after encouragement from Winifred.
