"The Living Legend" Bruno Sammartino was the proverbial rock upon which Vince McMahon Sr built the success of The WWF around. During the 1960s and 1970s Bruno was a hero to many wrestling fans, long before Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin came along. Sammartino had classic matches with legends like Gorilla Monsoon, Killer Kowalski, Ken Patera, Ivan Koloff, and Billy Graham. David had a disappointing stint in The WWF from 1984 thru 1985 where he failed to get above mid card status.

Five of Fritz's sons Kevin, David, Mike, Chris and Kerry followed him into the wrestling business with varying levels of success. David died in 1984 at age 25, Mike in 1987 at 23, Chris in 1990 at age 21 and Kerry in 1993 at age 32.

Another son Jack Junior died as a child and Fritz left us in 1997 at age 68.
