Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. My parents were both shot before my eyes in an alleyway by a common criminal. I donned the mask of the Batman that resembles a bat and is dark and fearsome to those who commit crime on the streets of Gotham city at night. However in the daytime, I am a very wealthy fellow who is the head of an inherited enterprise. Who am I?

Answer: Bruce Wayne

Bruce Wayne is the Batman. Bruce Wayne lives a life of luxury but is haunted by the death of his parents in Crime Alley. He is raised by the family butler Alfred who encourages him to do good and as he grows he also trains his body to be physically strong and intellectual.

He dons the mask of the bat because bats were originally one of his childhood fears and displays it to strike fear into criminals. Batman, unlike many superheroes, has no super abilities at all. He creates his own gear, batarangs, utility belt, computer system, and headquarters underground in the Bat Cave.

He has no tolerance for crime, but also tries to help the villains (such as Two Face, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman) overcome their criminal behaviors in hopes that they will return to their once normal lives.

His most profound enemy is the Joker who kills people for pleasure and tries to take away every person Batman loves.
2. There are several men who have worn my red and yellow mask, but all have been known for speed. Before I was the Flash, I was a police scientist who was always slow and late. One night lightning struck a case full of chemicals that showered my body, giving me the extraordinary gift of speed. Who am I?

Answer: Barry Allen

Barry Allen was a forensic scientist before his accident and investigates crime scenes. He did not have a reputation for speed or dependability. Then one night in the lab a lighting bolt struck the area where he was working and Barry fell into a puddle of chemicals that gave him his power of super speed. Because of his reputation of being a slow and unpunctual guy, Barry hides his alter-identity very well.

He invents a ring to unfold his costume in a moment's notice and is the super speedy crime fighter of Central City. Because he is close to the police force, he can easily pick up on crime around the city.

He has a very witty and sarcastic sense of humor which is usually seen when he is with his colleagues on the Justice League. Overall Flash is a lively-hearted, fun hero.
3. I was just an ordinary high school student until I was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained spider-like abilities. When I am protecting my city, I am swinging from the skyscrapers with my webs in a red and blue costume as Spider-Man. Answer: Peter Parker

He does not, however, get the power to make spider webs. Instead, he invents his own webs and web shooters that allow him to swing from almost any building or fight his villains. Peter is also humbled by the murder of his uncle which gives him a heart to fight crime.

He does not have any mentors other than his aunt and uncle who taught him moral values that he upholds as the crime fighter of New York City. In regular life, however, he is a photographer for the Daily Bugle. Unbeknownst to his boss, Peter Parker gets his pictures of Spider-Man by stringing up his camera close-by when he is fighting villains.
4. The first life I ever saved was my own when I created my mask. Before I became a hero, I had everything going for me. I was a billionaire playboy and an engineer. However I was kidnapped and while I was suffering from a severe chest injury I was forced to build a weapon of mass destruction. I built an iron bodysuit to save my own life and escape captivity, but later I would become a superhero for the world. Who is the man behind the mask of Iron Man?

He is forced to build a weapon of mass destruction, but in his captivity he constructs the body of armor that eventually turns him into Iron Man. Stark's achievement allows him to escape captivity and changes his perspective on the world and life.

It brings good to the world, but Stark is a man inside the prison he has created. His suit becomes life support for his own body and he faces many other villains who try to create forms of the suit to do evil in the world. Stark blames himself for many of the tragedies that happen.
5. I often wear a red and blue mask. My superpowers are an elemental surprise to many villains because I can shrink to the size of an atom. When I'm an ordinary person I am a physicist and university teacher. I developed a lens that enabled be to shrink and later used the lens' powers to become a superhero. 7. I was offered my superpowers by a dying alien who gave me a mysterious green ring and lantern. Although I did not know that I would become the defender of many planets in the universe as a Green Lantern, I accepted it. Ordinarily though, I would be a pilot who worked for the military and my hometown was Coast City. Who am I?

Answer: Hal Jordan

Hal Jordan was a military test pilot before he became Green Lantern. When a dying Green Lantern comes to Earth, Hal discovers the dying alien who gives him his green ring and lantern. By taking the ring, Hal becomes a part of the Green Lantern Corps who are directed by the leaders known as the Guardians. They commission Hal to protect many different planets and aliens that Hal would have never otherwise known. His power comes from the ring that is directed by "will", the strongest force in the universe. With will power he can direct the ring to do anything he wants. The weaknesses of the ring are fear and the color yellow.

Stewart's rough childhood inspired his attitude to be focused and disciplined to shut the memories out of his mind. He later joined the marines and eventually became an architect.
