Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Add a letter to 'OCK' to make something you put on your foot.

Answer: Sock

Socks are usually worn under shoes, although not all shoes require socks. Most socks are made of cotton or wool and some of them have rubber grips on the bottom so you don't fall over.
2. Add a letter to 'OCK' to make a synonym (a synonym is a word that means the same as something else') of tease.

Answer: Mock

To mock someone is to make fun of them in a mean way. It is not nice to mock someone so you should never do it.
3. Add TWO letters to 'OCK' to make something girls wear.

Answer: frock

Usually people say 'dress' instead of 'frock' or 'smock' because those words sound a little more old fashioned. Usually only girls wear frocks/smocks. Girls can wear pants, shorts, skirts or jeans as well.
4. Add a letter to 'OCK' to make a place where you would moor a boat.

Answer: dock

Other places you would see boats are piers, jetties and rivers. You can ride a boat anywhere that has water though I recommend you don't try it in your bath tub!
5. Add a letter to 'OCK' to make something that is natural but not living and is very hard.

Answer: rock

Rocks are not man-made like bridges or buildings. You can find rocks even where humans have never been but they are not living like animals or plants. You can tell this because rocks don't breathe, eat, drink or move on their own accord, someone has to push the rock in order for it to move.
6. Add TWO letters to 'OCK' to make what you might do on a door.

Answer: Knock

Usually when you knock on a door it is because you want the person inside to open the door for you, to tell them something or come inside. Most houses also have doorbells which serve for the same purpose as knocking. Some houses also have knockers which are used to make you're knocking more audible.
7. Add a letter to 'OCK' to make something you might do to a door or cage.

Answer: Lock

When people commit theft or any other crime, they are sometimes locked up in jail for a certain amount of time. This is called a sentence (for example a 20 year sentence, not a sentence that you write!) Sometimes, criminals can also get life sentences, which means they are locked up for most of their life, although not necessarily for their whole life.
Apart from locking up people, people lock their doors to stop criminals or any unwanted guests getting in their house.
8. Add TWO letters to 'OCK' to make a toy you can use to build things with.

Answer: block

Lots of children like to play building things with blocks. Often the blocks are wooden and have letters of the alphabet on them but recently, a lot of blocks are made of plastic. You can also build things with Lego, which are plastic building blocks.
9. Add TWO letters to 'OCK' to make something you can get because of electricity: An electric _______.

Answer: Shock

It is important not to play with powerpoints or electricity because you can get an electric shock. Although there is a chance you'll live after an electric shock, it can be fatal.
Another way to use the word 'shock' is as an emotion. Its meaning is similar to surprise, amazement or disbelief.
10. Add TWO letters to 'OCK' to make an item you use to tell the time.

Answer: Clock

Watches are smaller versions of clocks that you can put on your wrist, so they are more portable. Clocks can be analog or digital. Analog clocks have a minute, hour and sometimes, a second hand. Digital clocks tell you the time in numbers. Digital clocks are generally easier to read, especially for younger people.
Example of digital time:
3:15
