Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Starlord is the self proclaimed leader of the team. What is his human name?

Answer: Peter Quill

Quill was kidnapped by aliens when he was a child on Earth. He makes a lot of pop culture references, though they are all stuck in the 80s as that is when he left the planet. He loves his cassette tape player.

The pilot episode was called "Road to Knowhere"
2. The first mission the team had in the pilot was to cash in a bounty on a space pirate. What was the pirate's name?

Answer: Yandu

Yandu was the same pirate that had kidnapped Peter decades earlier. They had become friends, and business partners for a time. Sometime before the series started they had parted ways. Quill wanted to save Yandu from his captors and then turn him in for the bounty on his head.

This can be found in "Road to Knowhere"
3. What was the name of the dog who could communicate telepathically?

Answer: Cosmo

Cosmo was also from Earth. He had been the dog involved in the Russian space program. Once out in space he was experimented on and gained the ability to communicate in English telepathically. He started nearly every thought with "Cosmo" as the first word.

This can be found in "Nowhere to Run"
4. Starlord ended up with a box that contained energy from the Cosmic Seed. What was the key?

Answer: Starlord himself; it was DNA sequenced.

The only people who could open the cube had to have Spartax DNA. Prior to finding and opening the cube Starlord didn't know that he was half alien. This knowledge led him down a path to seek out his real father later in the season.

This can be found in "Nowhere to Run"
5. What was the name of the ship that the Guardians owned?

Answer: Milano

The fourth episode of the series was called "Take the Milano and Run". The ship, which was consistently falling apart, was named the Milano after one of Peter Quill's crushes back on Earth, Alyssa Milano.
6. Who tried to make Rocket a part of his personal collection?

Answer: The Collector

This can be seen in the episode "One in a Million You". Rocket had taken a job working for The Collector, but secretly the man intended to put Rocket into suspended animation and keep him as the last member of his species.
7. In the episode "Take the Milano and Run", what type of gemstones were the team looking for?

Answer: Pandorian Crystals

The Pandorian Crystals were used to power the Crypto-Cube. Without the crystals, the cube couldn't display the entire map it contained. The map led to the Cosmic Seed, which had been stolen from Asgard decades earlier.
8. In the episode "One in a Million You", the crew and their ship were eaten by a giant space slug.

Answer: True

After the ship was swallowed, Quill announced that if it had a mouth it must have "an exhaust port". He then piloted the ship through the slug's body and out the back end. After the encounter, Quill used the crystal he had to help complete the map that was hidden in the Crypto-Cube. They then used the map to find a new location to explore.
9. Which member of the team got infected with a rare virus?

Answer: Groot

Groot, a sentient alien tree-like creature, got infected by the same virus that the team had helped the residents of a planet they were exploring defeat.

The natives were rock-like creatures. Groot was infected when one of the creatures bit him in the leg.

Groot was voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson and only ever uttered the line "I am Groot", though he did it in various tones and inflections.

This was during the episode "Can't Fight This Seedling".
10. What was the source of the sickness that had stricken the planet and one of the Guardians?

Answer: A meteor.

Groot continued to grow uncontrollably. Once he was tall enough, Gamora, who was climbing on him, saw the meteor several miles away. The virus was eventually contained when Quill used his water gun to expand the core of Groot's heart.

This was during the episode "Can't Fight This Seedling".
