Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Kingdom Keepers are a group of teenagers fighting against evil in the Disney parks - how many of them make up the core group at the beginning of the series?

Answer: Five

The five original keepers are Finn, Charlene, Maybeck, Philby and Willa. They were chosen by Disney as models for holographic guest guides. They are later joined by Amanda and Jess, two girls with very special abilities.
2. The acronym "DHI" has two meanings in the books. Which is the public one, as presented to Disney guests?

Answer: Disney Host Interactive

In the books, DHIs are holographic hosts based on artificial intelligence that guests could take with them to have a personal guide to the parks. Their appearance is that of the five teenage protagonists of the books. Internally, the acronym is also used for the technology behind the DHIs, standing for Daytime Holographic Imaging.
3. Are the Kingdom Keepers allowed to freely visit the parks whenever they please?

Answer: No

While the DHI models are given complimentary access to the parks as a perk of the job, their visits have to be approved by Disney before they go. You can imagine that simply showing up would cause quite a stir once they get recognized as the real person - and this is exactly what happens to Finn on his very first attempt to get into the park after becoming a DHI.
4. To enter Walt Disney World outside the opening times, the Keepers have to "cross over" into their holographic version. How do they trigger this?

Answer: By going to sleep

The Keepers can cross over and merge with their holographic versions in their dreams. Crossing over is not without risk however - as Finn has to notice early on, their presence in the DHI form is quite real and if they do get wounded in that form, they will actually suffer those wounds to their real body.
5. The Keepers wouldn't have much of a job besides lending their appearance to the DHIs without having to fight evil in the form of Disney villains. What is the name of the villains' organization?

Answer: The Overtakers

The evil that endangers Walt Disney World and later on far more than just some places of entertainment takes a name in "The Overtakers". Finn actually learns of this name long before knowing what it stands for or encountering any Overtakers himself. At that time, he mostly just knows it is dangerous.
6. The Keepers' first major fight is with Maleficent, the witch from 1959's "Sleeping Beauty". What is her role in the evil syndicate?

Answer: Deputy Leader

While she appears to be the main villain in the first three books, the actual mastermind behind the Overtakers is the demon Chernabog. In actual Disney history, Chernabog has only a rather minor role - he has only one relatively brief appearance in 1940's "Fantasia", but nonetheless he is considered one of Disney's prime villains and the books let him live the part to the hilt.
7. What is "the Fob"?

Answer: A portable device allowing the Keepers to return from crossing over

Also known as the Button, the Return and the Remote, the Fob looks like a television remote except that it only has one single button. Without access to the Fob, the only way for a keeper to return from crossing over is to go back to the place they materialized in and then have someone else manually return them from the DHI server room.
8. Amanda and Jess are "Fairlies" - orphan children with special abilities. What is the origin of this name?

Answer: They are "fairly human"

Actually, all Fairlies are born humans, but each of them possesses a supernatural ability - Amanda can levitate items and Jess can see into the future in her dreams. A third Fairlie, Mattie, with telepathic abilities, is later seen.

Although all three Fairlies seen in the series are girls, it has not been ruled out that there could also be Fairlie boys.
9. What does it mean for a Keeper to go "All-Clear"?

Answer: It means to become insubstantial after crossing over

While the Keepers normally carry part of their physical selves along while crossed over, Finn was the first of them to realize that they could control this aspect and become completely holographic, unable to interact with or be affected by the environment, by simply willing it to be. Going All-Clear at will has become a powerful weapon in the Keepers' arsenal.
10. How do the Keepers most frequently communicate when not together (during the first two books)?

Answer: A chat room on the Virtual Magic Kingdom website

The Virtual Magic Kingdom provides the Keepers with a secure and easily accessible communication medium at first, although things become harder when the public version of that site is taken down by Disney.
