J K Rowling is a Classicist who has brought the book back into the world of children. The phenomenal success achieved by her "Harry Potter" series, of which "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is the second installment cannot be overestimated, with the Hollywood films now also a major success, along with a games franchise, and myriads of merchandise.
2. Who wrote the book "The Secrets of Vesuvius"?

Answer: Caroline Lawrence

Caroline Lawrence is a Californian author, now based in London. She began as a Classics teacher, writing for pleasure. Her writing is now very popular, including myself as one of her many fans. Her epic series of children's books "The Roman Mysteries" is her big success, of which "The Secrets of Vesuvius" is the second novel.

The "Artemis Fowl" series of books are wittily written by the Irish writer Eoin Colfer, and revolve around the world of the rather spoilt teenage criminal mastermind called Artemis Fowl. Eoin Colfer has also written other books, including "The Supernaturalists".
