Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Game Shows Hosted by Alex Trebek for $200 On this show airing from 1974 to 1976, contestants attempted to eliminate the numbers 1-9 from a board.

Answer: What was "High Rollers"?

Trebek hosted "High Rollers" from 1974-1976 and 1978 -1980 on NBC daytime television and 1975-1976 in evening syndication. Similar to the game "Shut the Box", players removed the numbers from the board by rolling the dice. Players got a turn at the dice by answering trivia questions. Prizes could be won by removing certain combinations of numbers.
2. Game Shows Hosted by Alex Trebek for $400 On this show airing from 1987 to 1991, contestants solve rebuses by matching prizes.

Answer: What was "Classic Concentration"?

Previous versions of "Concentration" had been hosted by Hugh Downs and Jack Narz. Some have described "Classic Concentration" as showing as Alex Trebek as a more informal host--wearing sweaters instead of suits, for instance. The game board featured pairs of prizes. If a contestant matched two prizes, she/he would add that prize to potential winnings and have a chance to guess at the rebus that was hidden on the board by the portions which were revealed.
3. Games Shows Hosted by Alex Trebek for $600 On this show airing from 1973 to 1974, the winner in the bonus round was selected by Alex spinning a wheel.

Answer: What was "The Wizard of Odds"?

"The Wizard of Odds" featured a first round where three players answered questions based on the law of averages for cash and prizes. The next round had three new players answer questions for a chance to pick from prizes that would randomly be "open" or "closed". All six contestants had their names placed on a "Wizard's Wheel of Fortune" with one being chosen for the bonus round.
4. Game Shows Hosted by Alex Trebek for $800 On this show aired from 1981 to 1982, contestants moved across a bridge by answering questions from Alex.

Answer: What was "Pitfall"?

The bad news: Catalena Productions, the company responsible for "Pitfall" went bankrupt during the show's run. Alex Trebek ended up not being paid his salary and most of the winning contestants did not receive their cash and/prizes. The good news: The bonus round for this series sounded interesting where contestants physically moved across the bridge with Alex. Landing on a "pitfall" section lowered the contestant from the bridge to the floor.

The contestant would have to answer an additional question to rise back to the bridge level.
5. Game Shows Hosted by Alex Trebek for $1000 On this show aired from 1976 to 1977, contestants faced off against three PhDs in the bonus round.

Answer: What was "Double Dare"?

There is very little that links this "Double Dare" to the later, longer-lasting "Double Dare" show on Nickelodeon. In the first round of "Double Dare", contestants had to identify a person, place, or thing based on a one sentence clue. In the bonus round, the contestant heard a clue and decided whether it should be passed to the PhDs (known as "Spoilers") or not.

The contestant would win money as long as at least one "Spoiler" gave an incorrect answer.
