Judo was created in Japan in 1882. Its founder was Dr. Jigoro Kano who studied the ancient forms of self-defense and created the new sport. Judo became an Olympic event during the 1964 games in Tokyo. Karate means "empty hand".
2. Which Engelbert Humperdinck opera was based on a fairy tale by the brothers Grimm?

Answer: Hansel and Gretel

The fairy tale opera "Hansel and Gretel" was written during the years 1881 and 1882. The idea came from Humperdinck's sister who was writing songs for a Christmas play. The opera was first performed in 1883, and was conducted by Richard Strauss. The other three options are fairy tales by Andersen.
3. For what were the Amati family famous?

Answer: Violin makers

The Amati was an Italian family that lived in Cremona during the 16th and 17th centuries. Andrea was the founder of a school for violin-making. His two sons Antonio and Girolamo continued the family tradition. Girolamo's son Nicolo is the most famous in the Amati family, and people like Stradivari learned the art of violin making from him. Nicolo's son Girolamo was the last violin maker in the family.
