Answer: Gulf of Mexico

It covers an area of 615,000 square miles with a coastline of over 3,000 miles. The Gulf was formed about 300 million years ago. The coastline is bordered along the north, north-east and north-west by the USA, to the south and south-west by Mexico and to the east by Cuba.

It begins on the east coast of Florida then travels up the USA coast to Newfoundland and then across the Atlantic Ocean towards Europe. The Gulf Stream is a powerful, warm, surface current that is considered one of the world's strongest currents.

It is a large bay off northern Australia, between Queensland and the Northern Territory. The gulf is quite shallow and does not exceed 82 metres in depth, however, it covers an area of 300,000 kmē.
