Answer: Wallach's Music City

I still remember the theme music from their ads, "Wallach's Music City, Sunset and Vine". They allowed you to sample demonstration albums before you would purchase it.
2. This market was located at Vine Street and Fountain. Steve Allen had his studio across the street and would create hidden camera gags with the customers.

Answer: Hollywood Ranch Market

You could buy fresh doughnuts for 5 cents each or a bag of damaged ones for 50 cents. The market advertised that it never closed but I remember once that there was a grocer's strike. Since they did not have any doors they had to build a fence around the store.

Earl Carroll opened this theatre on December 26, 1938. In the 50s it was sold and became the Moulin Rouge and the home to "Queen for a Day" staring Jack Bailey.

The Pan-Pacific Auditorium was a landmark on Beverly Boulevard. It was next the the home of the Hollywood Stars baseball team and within a mile of CBS Television City and the Farmers Market. The designers were Wurdeman and Becket and it was one of America's finest examples of Streamline Moderne.

Pacific Ocean Park was a twenty-eight acre, nautical-themed amusement park built on a pier at Santa Monica. It was actually a major remodeling of an older park that stood on the site. The entrance was an elevator that would "take you under the sea". It was nicknamed "POP" for "Pacific Ocean Park" or "Pay One Price."

A second Brown Derby was built near Hollywood and Vine in 1929. Two more were later built in Beverly Hills and the Los Feliz area. They were frequented by celebrities during the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Gilmore Field opened on May 2, 1939, on Beverly Boulevard next to the Pan Pacific Auditorium. Jack Benny, Al Jolsen, Gary Cooper, Robert Taylor and Bing Crosby hosted pre-game activities that resembled a Hollywood premiere.

Marineland of the Pacific opened in August, 1954. Located at the tip of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, it was the largest oceanarium in the world.

The NBC studios were located at the corner of Sunset and Vine in Hollywood. It was torn down after a new studio was built in Burbank. Many of the classic TV shows were done there including Groucho Marx and Truth or Consequences.
10. The "Los Angeles Incline Railway," was better known as what?

Answer: Angel's Flight

The original Angels Flight, originally known as the "Los Angeles Incline Railway," was built in 1901 to connect the downtown shopping district with the residential district of Bunker Hill. It was originally located at 3rd and Hill streets. In the late 60s, it was moved and then later put into storage. It has now been rebuilt at another location.
