The historic city of Durham, located in the county of the same name, sits on the banks of the River Wear and can boast an 11th century castle and a cathedral that contains the shrine of Saint Cuthbert and was one of the most important sites of pilgrimage in the medieval period. Durham University was founded in the city in 1832, making it England's third-oldest after Oxford and Cambridge.

Dundee and Dunoon are both in Scotland and Dudley is located in the West Midlands.

Answer: Skopje

Skopje is the capital city of the Republic of North Macedonia, which was known as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia until February 2019. The name change was agreed under the terms of the Prespa agreement between North Macedonia and neighbouring Greece. It ended a long-running dispute between the two countries over the use of the term "Macedonia" as there is also a Greek region of the same name. Skopje's history can be traced back to the time of the Kingdom of Paeonia (350 to 230 BC).

Aside from being associated with a famous US TV series of the same name, Dallas is known for being a major industrial centre and is home to several major league sports teams such as the Dallas Mavericks (NBA), Dallas Stars (NHL) and Texas Rangers (MLB). The Dallas Cowboys NFL team actually play their home matches in the nearby city of Arlington.

Denver is the state capital of Colorado and Downey is located close to Los Angeles, California. There are quite a few Daytons in the USA, but the largest is in Ohio.

Shiraz is located in the south of Iran and is the capital of Fars Province, a centre of the ancient Persian Empire. It is also a former national capital, having been the capital city of Persia from 1750 to 1800. In the medieval period it was known as a centre of arts and culture and is characterised by the large number of gardens and trees found within its boundaries. Tourist attractions include the museum and park at the 18th century Karim Khan Citadel.

Sirjan is a city located to the east of Shiraz in Iran's Kerman Province. Sangli is in India and Sukkur is in Pakistan.

Durban is located on the east coast of South Africa and is a major port on the Indian Ocean. Its origins date back to the early 19th century British settlement that was known as Port Natal. It was renamed Durban in 1835 in honour of the then British governor of Cape Colony, Sir Benjamin D'Urban. The modern-day city is one of the largest and important industrial cities in South Africa but also has a thriving tourist trade thanks to its expanse of sandy beaches and tropical climate.

The city is built on a plateau at around 370 metres (1,200 feet) above sea level and developed around the historic Ismailiya Kasbah.

The Tanzanian government announced their intention to move the capital city and the workings of government to Dodoma in 1974, but the process wasn't officially completed until 1996. As a relatively recent town, Dodoma had the advantage of having plenty of space for expansion and development, as well as the benefit of being centrally located with good transport links.

Douala is in Cameroon, Djelfa in Algeria and Dessie in Ethiopia.

Suzuka is located in the Mie Prefecture on Japan's main island, Honshu. It has since been the scene of some of the sport's best-known moments, including the controversial collisions between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in 1989 and 1990 as well as Damon Hill's championship-clinching victory in 1996.

The latest of these name changes followed the Ukrainian government's 2015 laws on decommunization that required place names honouring Soviet people or symbols to be changed. Its new name was based on that of the Dnieper River, which flows through it.

The city of Surrey, British Columbia was founded in 1879 on land south of the Fraser River and forms part of the wider Vancouver metropolitan area. It was named by a man named H. J. Brewer who was from the county of Surrey in southern England, who thought the area resembled his distant homeland. The resemblance of the two Surreys at that time might be quite hard to understand - but one was covered by forests of fir trees, bushes and bogs and the other was home to significant areas of woodland (albeit made up of different species of tree).

Slough and Stroud are both English towns, but you would have to go to Australia to find the world's largest Sydney (although there's one in Nova Scotia, Canada as well).
