Khosrau Anushirawan is considered one of the greatest Persian Kings due to his support of science and the arts as well as his creation of a large university. It was during his reign that chess was introduced to Iran and he was known for a being a thorn in the side of Justinian.

At one point, he invaded and sacked the Byzantine Empire at the request of a Gothic Ambassador who told him that the Byzantines were fighting in Italy. He would tell villages and citiesto pay him a bribe or he would sack the place.

The majority of places paid him the bribe.
