The New York Giants swept the Cleveland Indians in four straight games. The only New York Yankee getting any attention was Joe DiMaggio who had married Marilyn Monroe in January and announced their divorce in October.

Answer: Roast turkey

The roast turkey came with stuffing, gravy, sweet potatoes and peas and sold for 98 cents. Swanson stopped calling them TV dinners in 1962 and replaced the aluminum trays with microwavable plastic trays in 1986.

He discovered a long line waiting to buy a 15¢ burger, 5¢ coffee and 20¢ milkshakes. With his unlimited vision and willingness to work, Kroc persuaded the brothers to let him be their franchise agent.

He opened his own first hamburger stand in suburban Chicago in 1955. By the year 2000, McDonalds had grown to 25,000 restaurants in about 120 countries.
