10. My level 10 Fighter is a bit of a hothead, I'm afraid! While undertaking what should be a small solo mission, she discovers that the tomb she entered is guarded by a Shield Guardian! Instead of backing down and going to fetch help, she rushes into the fight, and just barely manages to defeat the Guardian.

She still does not want to turn back and come back with friends, but insists to the DM that she wants to press on all by herself. Before doing so, she will need to regain some Hit Points, but can not risk an 8-hour long rest in a dungeon. She will have to take a short rest and roll some Hit Dice to recuperate.

How many Hit Dice does she have available to spend when taking a short rest?
Hint

Question 12 of 20
12. My Barbarian screams his battle cry and charges against the line of enemies in a completely reckless, all-out attack! Blinded by battle-rage and pumped up by his fury, he wades into combat, shrugging off the enemies' strikes and dealing out twice as much himself!
But how many times can a level 12 Barbarian rage like this per day?
Hint

Question 13 of 20
13. A 13th level Rogue sneaks across the rooftops, silent as a shadow. She ties a rope to a chimney and rappels quickly down the wall of a large house, before jimmying a window open (with a successful Sleight of Hand check). She pulls out a hand crossbow, aims it at a sleeping figure inside, and lets loose the bolt!

The player rolls eight 6-sided dice to determine damage; what is the name of the feature she utilized to get so many damage dice at once?

Answer: (Two Words, 5 and 6 letters)
Question 14 of 20
14. My Elvish Fighter naturally prefers using a bow and arrows, but I also decided to throw some magic into the mix and made him an Eldritch Knight. After a couple of years of playing him, he has reached level 14, and can learn new spells from the wizard spell list.
What would be a spell he can choose to learn upon reaching level 14?
Hint

Question 15 of 20
15. Food and drink are essential when taking a long rest in D&D 5th. After all, everyone needs to recuperate! But the monk's mystic powers sometimes make them transcend this world, so I ask you: does a High Elf monk of level 15 need to eat, drink and get 8 hours of sleep?

Question 16 of 20
16. It's game night, and I am running my Sorcerer in a high-powered group. I'm a little bummed out that at level 16, I still only have one 8th level spell slot available each day, and can only use the Dominate Monster spell once a day.

In the middle of a heated combat with a pair of mated silver dragons I really NEED two Dominate Monster spells! I then suddenly remember; I have sorcery points for these kinds of situations!
I yell at my GM that I use all 16 of my sorcery points to get more spell slots, and how many level 8 spell slots will that give me?

The GM looks at me over the edge of the screen and... gives what reply?
Hint

17. Some of the greatest powers in a warlock's arsenal are his Invocations, that come in addition to the regular spellcasting. At level 17, my Pact of the Chain warlock can, among other things, cast Hold Monster at will, push creatures with my Eldritch Blast and speak with the dead.
In total, how many invocations would I have available to me at level 17?
Hint

Question 18 of 20
18. Not everyone who starts out on their way to be Paladins become true paragons of virtue and morale! Some join the darker forces in the world, either for their own ambition, or in service to evil masters. At level 18, she can dominate people, animate and control undead, put fear into her enemies at a glance from 30 feet away, as well as being a powerful melee combatant.

What is the name used for this kind of evil Paladin?

Answer: (One Word, 11 letters. )
Question 19 of 20
19. True or false: A 19th level Wizard would without doubt be one of the most powerful people in the world! After all, she can change the world with a Wish spell, or stop time itself!

The Ranger becomes a Foe Slayer, the Warlock and Eldritch Master, and the Barbarian a Primal Champion.
What can the level 20 Druid title herself?
Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When rolling up a level 1 character for a new game, I am determined to use martial weapons, and I want a character who is able to wield all martial weapons straight from the start. After all, I have my eyes set on that nice, versatile warhammer! Or maybe the halberd...? Anyway, which one of these classes should I choose to fulfill this desire?

Answer: Barbarian

Of these, only the barbarian can use martial weapons at level 1.
The College of Valor bard also gains proficiency with them, but remember, this is still at level 1, and the bard does not gain a college until level 3!
The monk and rogues both are proficient with simple weapons plus a few others, but not all martial weapons.
2. At level 2, the wizard can choose one arcane tradition to specialize in. I want my wizard to be a suave, sweet-talking, charming spy who moves in high society; which of these arcane traditions would perhaps best help him reach his goal?

Answer: School of Enchantment

The School of Enchantment teaches manipulation of the minds of others, which would be very helpful for my character.
Evocation is the School for manipulation of elemental energy, such as cold or fire, and is more offensive.
Abjuration teaches how to protect oneself through magic, and Transmutation is focused on changing the physical shape of objects.
3. Level 3 is often where a character breaks out of the standard mold. They learn magic or gain special abilities that make the character stand out as a specialized version of their class. Which of these classes does NOT gain such a boost at level 3?

Answer: The Druid

The Druid joins his or her Circle already at level 2, choosing such as Circle of the Moon (becoming an expert on shapeshifting), Circle of the Land (learning additional nature magic), or Circle of the Shepherd (communing with animals and spirits).

The Fighter chooses an archetype at level 3, becoming an Arcane Archer who deals magic through arrows, a Battlemaster who takes command of a battlefield, or a mounted Cavalier, among others.

The Warlock receives a Pact Boon from their patron at level 3, gaining additional spells with a Tome, the ability to use and summon weapons with Pact of the Blade, or a familiar spirit with Pact of the Chain.

The Monk commits to a Monastic Tradition at level 3, such as Shadow, to become a ninja-like spy or assassin, or the Tradition of the Open Hand, to become an expert martial artist.
4. My group was just informed the we made it to level 4! Everybody gains an ability score increase, and my Sorcerer can learn one additional spell she can cast, for a total of 5. But how many 0-level spells (cantrips) does she know at this point?

Answer: 5

At level 4, a Sorcerer knows 5 spells and 5 cantrips, plain and simple.
Cantrips use so little magical energy that they never "run out", and a spellcaster can cast them as many times as he or she likes during a day.
5. I'm in a very good-aligned, heroic party, with a stated mission to spread justice and peace throughout the lands. I therefore decide to run a Paladin, the champion of noble virtues! After facing much resistance and several near-death experiences, my Paladin reaches level 5, and gets which longed-for ability?

Answer: Extra Attack

The ability to attack twice as often each round usually helps martial characters such as the Paladin, Fighter or Barbarian to finish fights more quickly!
The other options are also Paladin abilities that can help keep them or their party alive for longer, but they are gained at different levels.
6. True or False: At level 6, my Bard receives Countercharm. When I strike a chord on my instrument and activate this feature, it gives me or any of my allies within 30 feet advantage on all rolls to resist or break free of charms and illusion spells.

Answer: False

The Countercharm gives advantage against being frightened or charmed, not against illusions.
7. My Dark Elf Rogue has gone the way of the Arcane Trickster, choosing to blend magic with his Rogue skills and general mischief. When reaching level 7, he finally gains the much-coveted 2nd level spells! Which one of these is a spell he can choose?

Answer: Mirror Image

All of these would be very convenient for a Rogue, but unfortunately, most of the spells have to come from the Illusion or Enchantment schools of magic. The exceptions are at levels 3, 8, 14 and 20; the spells he learns then can be from any school.

Mirror Image is a good spell to get out of a tight spot, as it creates three illusionary duplicates of the caster, and makes it very difficult to discern which is the real one.
8. Reaching level 8 gives us the second increase in ability scores (or a feat if the Dungeon Master allows it). My Hill Dwarf Cleric had, until this point, a Wisdom score of 19, so when the Dungeon Master tells us we have made it to 8th level and gain a level-up, what is the highest Wisdom score I can jot down on my character sheet?

Answer: 20

Ability increases the characters can get every 4 levels do not normally allow scores to be raised above 20. My Cleric can instead choose to increase two different ability scores by 1 each, maxing out his Wisdom score and adding to one other ability of his choice. Chances are very high there is a second score I would want to increase as well!
9. In my party, we have a Fighter, a Warlock, a Monk, a Barbarian and a Cleric. After defeating a marauding Fire Giant, we finally reach level 9! Which good thing happens to all the members of my party at level 9?

Answer: +1 to Proficiency bonus

Proficiency bonus is added to skills and saves the character is proficient in, to reflect that he or she is specially trained in those areas. It is also added to Attack rolls made with weapons the character is proficient in.

To multiclass in D&D 5th you need to meet certain requirements in ability scores, it is not based on what class or skill level the characer is in his/her base class.

Answer: 10d10

A character gets one more Hit Die every time he or she goes up one level. These dice can be rolled to quickly regain the number of Hit Points rolled during a short rest. What kind of die to use depends on the class - Fighters have D10s as their Hit Die, so a level 10 Fighter would have 10 D10 to spend.

This means that my hothead Fighter could get back somewhere between 10 and 100 Hit Points before moving on. It might not be enough - better get the rest of the party!
11. True or False: I have brought my Ranger all the way from level 1 to 11, choosing Hunter as my Ranger Archetype. When I got to level 11, I was granted the Multiattack power, enabling me to launch a volley of arrows and shower my enemies with death from above.

Answer: True

True! The Multiattack can take two forms, either the Ranged Volley, or Whirlwind Attack to attack several enemies with a melee weapon. I have to choose which of the two forms I want for my Ranger, though!

Answer: 5

Flying into a berserker rage 5 times a day sounds exhausting! For Path of the Berserker Barbarians this can be quite true, as they gain one level of exhaustion if they choose to make frenzy attacks while in a rage.

Better have some of those Potions of Vitality handy!

Answer: Sneak attack

The hand crossbow's base damage is 1d6, and at level 13 the Rogue can add 7 more D6s if she manages to get in a sneak attack. The Assassin archetype makes it easier to fulfill the conditions for using Sneak Attack, but does not add any more damage until level 17.

Answer: Gaseous Form

Normally, an Eldritch Knight can only learn Abjuration or Evocation spells. The exception is at level 8, 14 and 20, when he can learn spells from any school.

Phantasmal Killer is a 4th level spell, but my Fighter can only use 3rd level spells so far.

True Seeing is a 6th level spell, so the Eldritch Knight will sadly never be able to learn it.
15. Food and drink are essential when taking a long rest in D&D 5th. After all, everyone needs to recuperate! But the monk's mystic powers sometimes make them transcend this world, so I ask you: does a High Elf monk of level 15 need to eat, drink and get 8 hours of sleep?

Answer: No

No! As a High Elf, the monk has never needed more than 4 hours of rest anyway, and at level 15 she can sustain herself with her ki powers, eliminating the need for physical sustenance. She can choose to have a meal if the wants to, but it is not necessary.
In addition, the level 15 monk is immune to all disease and poison, can understand all spoken languages, and will never suffer the effects of old age!

Answer: "Zero! Sorcery points can only give slots for level 5 spells, max!"

The room erupts with laughter, and people are starting to wonder just how focused I am on my character, if I don't even remember that sorcery points can only buy level 5 spell slots! After all, if I have made it this long in a campaign, I surely would have discovered this by now!

Answer: 7

Some invocations just gives you the effects of a normal spell (except that you do not have to expend spell slots or components for them), but several are also very specific to the warlock class. For instance, many invocations allow you to make your Eldritch Blast cantrip, your Pact familiar or your Pact blade more powerful.

Answer: Oathbreaker

Most Paladins swear some kind of Oath at level 3, but the Oathbreaker goes against the norm and decides instead to dedicate herself to the darker forces. It would be difficult to play this as anything but an evil character!
19. True or false: A 19th level Wizard would without doubt be one of the most powerful people in the world! After all, she can change the world with a Wish spell, or stop time itself! Excluding cantrips, there is also no limit as to how many spells she knows, and with at least 30 spells available each day, only the very mightiest of foes would be a match for her!

Answer: False

There was never any limit as to how many spells a Wizard might know, only as to how many she can prepare each day, and what level they might be.
But even a level 19 Wizard only has 21 spell slots available each day.
20. At level 20, our characters have reached as far as they can go. There are just not any more levels to be gained, and very few challenges that can stand against them. To reflect this, some classes can add a very specific title (and power) to their already impressive character sheet. The Ranger becomes a Foe Slayer, the Warlock and Eldritch Master, and the Barbarian a Primal Champion. What can the level 20 Druid title herself?

Answer: Archdruid

An Archdruid can use her Wild Shape ability an unlimited number of times, enabling her to continually shift between forms. She can also cast her Druid spells while in Wild Shape, as long as the material components are met.
