Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the Pharaoh during the time this story takes place?

Answer: Not known for sure

The musical never gives his name, because there is no scholarly agreement as to which pharaoh ruled during the time when these events are set. The Bible makes some references in the Book of Genesis that allow suggestions as to possible names (assuming, of course, that the events are accepted as historical fact).

These include Ramesses II and Amenhotep II; some consider Set I and Ramesses I (the father and grandfather of Ramesses II) as possibilities. Whoever it was, he probably didn't bear much resemblance to Elvis.
2. In the video, who guest-starred as Mrs. Potiphar?

Answer: Joan Collins

Joan Collins did a wonderful job with the rather... um.. promiscuous role.
3. While Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the music for this show, who wrote the lyrics?

Answer: Tim Rice

Tim Rice wrote the marvellously touching and witty lyrics for this musical.
4. Who tried to plead Benjamin's innocence?

Answer: Judah

'No ifs, no buts, Benjamin is honest as coconuts!' One of my personal favorite songs.
5. 'Who this man could be I __ __ __!' Fill in the blanks.

Answer: just don't know

'Joe!'
6. Joseph says he has never before been wrong at interpreting dreams.

Answer: True

'Don't rely on all I said I saw. It's just that I have not been wrong before...' Joseph sings this during 'Go Go Go Joseph'.
7. What was it that Pharaoh had seen during the first dream that he tells Joseph?

Answer: Seven fat cows

'Well I was wandering along by the banks of the river when seven fat cows came on out of the Nile, a uh huh!'
8. 'Potiphar had very few cares. He was one of Egypt's _______.' Fill in the blank.

Answer: millionaires

'Potiphar had very few cares. He was one of Egypt's millionaires, having made a fortune buying shares in pyramids.' This is sung during the song that is all about Potiphar.
9. Both the butler and the baker had dreams. When Joseph explains their dreams to them, he says they mean they will both be set free from the dungeon.

Answer: False

Joseph sadly tells the baker that his dream meant he would be executed. 'Sad to say, your dream is not the kind of dream I like to get. Pharaoh has it in for you. Your execution date is set.' Sadly, only the butler was set free.
10. What is the first song in the musical?

Answer: Prologue

The narrator sings this at the very beginning. Though we do not know the name of this person, she is seen often throughout the show.
