3. He's not a hood, he's a good fellow. Who's the fairy who cavorts about sowing mayhem as lovers "dream away a summer's night" in a Shakespeare comedy?

Answer: Puck

Puck, also known as Robin Good Fellow, is the mischievous fairy sprite in Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," written around 1595. It is one of the most popular and most often performed of all the Bard's comedies, and it features some outlandish cases of mistaken identity. Puck is a central figure in the action, an impish jester who delights in practical jokes, and playing with the emotions of the lovers who wander into his domain, an enchanted forest.

6. Which of these pairs of words are homographs?

Answer: mean (intend) and mean (unkind)

Homographs are words with the same spelling, but different meanings. For example the word "mean" can have at least four different meanings: 1. Signify, 2. Intend, 3. Unkind, and 4. Average. All of these "mean" words are homographs of each other (but not mien, mane or mine). Generally, homographs have different roots, often coming from different languages. Mean = "signify" comes from Old English "mænan" = "to mean". Mean = "unkind" comes from the Old English "ġemǣne" = "common". Mean = "average" comes from the same Latin root "medianus" which also gives us "median". Isn't language fun?
