Answer: Bran

The first chapter is told through Bran's eyes. After the execution of a deserter, Bran ask his father "Can a man still be brave if he's afraid?". Ned Stark answers, "That is the only time a man can be brave." Ned was not only an honorable man, but he is also a good father, constantly trying to educate his children.
2. Name the character in chapter 2 who said, "The same age as Bran. Please, Ned, guard your tongue. The Lannister woman is our queen, and her pride is said to grow with every passing year."

Answer: Catelyn

Ned and Catelyn were discussing the arrival of Robert Barantheon and the court. Ned couldn't hide his dislike of Cersei Lannister. The first thing we hear about Cersei is her pride.

On her wedding day, Dany is afraid of getting married to a complete stranger, Khal Drogo. She is begging her brother to save her, but Viserys has already sold her. Dany is always looking for a home, a place where she can belong. The irony is that she found a home with Drogo.

At the yard, Tyrion explains how both aren't accepted by their families, and they have this in common. Jon complains that he doesn't even know who his mother is while Tyrion's mother was Lady Lannister. Tyrion explains to him that "All dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes." The rejection Jon feels for being a bastard is similar to Tyrion feels for being a dwarf.

Ned and Catelyn are discussing their children's future. Catelyn argues Sansa is not too young to get promised. The events of the book are 15 years after Robert's Rebellion, however the war had lasting effects on the events of the book. Catelyn was promised to Brandon, Ned's older brother, whose murder by the mad king was the cause of the war.
