Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From which of these locations do Gia and Bella come?

Answer: Brooklyn

Brooklyn girls, Gia, and her cousin, Bella, get ready for a night at Karma, one of the Jersey Shore's most popular clubs. While Gia struggles to maintain the perfect pouf in the humidity, Bella fits herself into a revealing outfit to showcase her recent breast augmentation. Viewers of "Jersey Shore" discover that this is starting to sound all-too-familiar.
At Karma, the girls get into the club through the VIP entrance and begin a night of flirting, dancing, and drinking. Bella starts flirting with a preppy boy named Benjamin (nicknamed 'Bender') while Gia hits the dance floor with a boy named Rocky who's just her type ("big, ripped, tan, and gorilla"). Surprisingly, Rocky also happens to be the boyfriend of her high school friend-turned-rival, Linda.
Bella takes an interview at a local gym and gets a trial run as a personal trainer. The boss (nicknamed 'Trouble') tells her she can keep the job if she shows improvement by training someone. Gia sets Bender up as her client and they both get started on their routine together.
Gia gets a job at a local tanning salon after getting hired by an eccentric cougar. Her first client invites her to a keg party on the shore and the job immediately starts paying off.
2. What kind of car does Bender drive?

Answer: Beemer

As it turns out, Bender is actually a bit of a sleaze. He and his friend, Ed, play a game called the 'Rule of Ten' which means that they immediately try to bed the tenth 'easy' girl to enter a particular club within seven days. This year, it turned out to be Bella when she entered Karma. If the first participant can't do the deed (and prove it) in a week, the other gets a shot before they both have a free-for-all for bragging rights.
When Bender comes by, the three of them head off to the party for which Gia received an invite. After misreading the directions, they finally arrive and Gia finds the guy from the tanning salon, Neil, in a room upstairs, burnt from head to toe. After an okay tan, he decided to take matters into his own hands and tan on the roof with his own oil. This left him red. Gia resigns to the fact that he will be leaving for the summer and that they won't be able to hook up. Meanwhile, Bella is asked a number of random, inane questions by Bender and Gia starts to get a bad feeling about him.
Bella starts to get angry with Gia about her disposition towards Bender and heads out to do some laundry. Here, she runs into Tony, her boss ('Trouble') and the two of them talk about her job and the locals. When Tony says that he's usually a pretty good judge of people's problems, he says that Bella seems like a "lost little girl" and that she's looking to escape. She doesn't admit that he's correct.
3. What is the name of the tanning salon where Gia gets a job working for Maria?

Answer: Tantastic

After a long day of work and with Bella still angry at her, Gia decides to stay at Tantastic with her boss, Maria, then take her to the club, Bamboo. Despite the fact that Maria is almost double Gia's age, she enjoys herself and Gia needs to pull her out of the club to prevent her from embarrassment (suffice to say she has a bit too much fun). On the way out of the club, they come across some hippie kids smoking marijuana on the beach and Gia stops them before they can get caught by the cops. Maria tells them that they can all stay at her place (the salon). When the arrive, Gia spray tans their guests while Maria smokes with them. Their party is cut short when Maria's landlord (and ex-husband) calls the fire department fearing that his property is on fire. Maria and Gia are told that for their public disturbance, they'll need to pay a fine or complete community service. (Hey, Snooki had to do that too!)
Bella and Bender go out for dinner at a fancy restaurant and Bender puts his elaborate scheme into action. After spending tons of money on dinner and drinks he reveals to Bella that he has a rare blood disease known as 'hemotitis'. She initially thinks he may be lying (because he is) but she trusts him enough to go home with him. It turns out that Bender comes on too strong and she leaves angry. Ed watches on as it becomes his turn to play 'Rule of Ten' and sleep with Bella before the end of the week.
To get home, Bella calls Tony for help and he ends up picking her up on the way back from the movies with his grandma. Despite the fact that she lost her client, he lets her teach a few classes and continue working.
4. Gia gains fame in Seaside Heights for protecting and subsequently tripping over which of these?

Answer: A shark

Bella accompanies Gia on her first hour of community service on the Seaside Heights Beach picking up trash and the two of them ogle bodybuilders before they commence their rather easy jobs. During their work, they come across a sand shark washed up on the beach and Gia protects it from some bratty kids.

In doing so she ends up falling into the water with the shark and freaking out. A man claims he filmed her as one of the bodybuilders comes to help (and offers a drink). She's okay with both of these things as long as her hair looks alright.

It turns out that the video gets hundreds of thousands of hits in its first day and Gia appears on the news as 'The Shark Whisperer' in interviews. Frank, the fireman from the other night, sees her on TV, fondly recalls their meeting, and hopes he runs into her again. Meanwhile, Gia's rival, Linda, also spots the news programme on TV and ends up vowing to knock Gia off the social ladder. A little while later, Gia has her date with the bodybuilder from the beach (who she and Bella nickname 'Hulk') and although she's attracted to his body he turns out to be lacking in other ways.

She also imagines her date as the fireman from the other night. The date ends with her throwing up her oyster dinner after several large amusement park rides.
5. When she accidentally sets fire to their shorehouse, what does Gia end up ruining?

Answer: Her fuzzy, pink slippers

Bella and Tony both decide to have a cook-off, both making the best Chicken Parmesan they can and having Gia judge. The two of them flirt over the cooking phase and while they wait, Gia is recognized by passers-by on the boardwalk. In her head, Bella weighs out her options with Tony shortly before Rick, the lifeguard from the beach, comes by to tell Gia that her community service has been absolved because of her generosity towards animals. They invite him in for dinner. After a delicious meal, Gia cleans up the kitchen (or tries) while Bella and Tony spend time together. Before anything can happen, Tony reveals that he wants to take it slow with Bella and not simply have a summer fling. She doesn't want this though, so she kicks him out. Before Gia can console her friend, the kitchen oven sets on fire.
The fire department (including Frank) shows up at the shorehouse and it turns out that their landlord is Maria's ex-husband. They're cleared of any issues and Gia vows to help their landlord (Stanley) get back together with Maria. They also move into a hotel as their kitchen is now a hazard zone.
At the gym, Bella maintains her fist-pumping workout routine with some of her clients before getting into a sparring match with Tony. By the end of their bout, Tony already has her back. He offers another dinner for her, this time at their new hotel lodgings at the Inca. At Tantastic, while assisting a group of women getting tan-tags for a wedding, Gia tries to teach Maria some smooth moves before a UPS deliveryman arrives with a package for her. It turns out to be a pair of fuzzy, pink slippers to replace the ones she used to try and put out the fire and Frankie's number. She decides to call.
6. During her first date with Frankie, what happens to Gia on the beach?

Answer: She gets stung by a jellyfish

To avoid paying boarding costs at the hotel, the owner asks Gia to spend time at the bar to bring in new customers with her newfound fame. She and Bella head there on their first night and she gets completely drunk. Bella, meanwhile, meets a guy who pays her very little attention and inevitably gets her number. This guy happens to be Ed, the other guy from the 'Rule of Ten' game. When he leaves, Tony warns her about him but she won't hear it. In his room, Ed discusses his plan of action with Bender and this begins with a well-placed note.
The following morning, Gia ends up receiving the note, but doesn't read it because she's late for her date to give Stanley a makeover. They head out to get him a haircut and new clothes. At the same time, Bella returns from a morning run and an impromptu prayer to God during which she asks for a sign that Ed is a nice guy. When she gets back to the room she finds a smorgasbord of food ordered by Gia and takes it as a sign (since she is hungry) to call Ed.
On her date with Frankie, Gia opens up about the problems with her parents and he talks about his rocky relationship with his brother before the two of them lie on the beach. Just as their evening gets more romantic, the night comes to a dead halt; Gia is stung by a jellyfish. After this ordeal, Frankie sets another date with her on Tuesday.
7. To get back at Gia, her ex-best friend Linda decides to spike Jell-o shots with which of these?

Answer: Laxatives

At the bar that night, Bella realizes her mistake; the food was left behind by Gia and wasn't really a sign. When Ed shows up and acts rude towards her, she decides to give in to being wrong about him and leaves without making a fuss. He heads to her room to apologize and make amends so that he can win the 'Rule of Ten' game, but he's stopped by Gia at the last moment and screams until he leaves. Bender declares that the game is now open for both of them; the first one to sleep with Bella wins.
Elsewhere, Linda and Janey develop plans to get back at Gia. To do this, they spike a couple Jell-o shots with laxatives and plan to feed them to her. When the club gets busy, they theorize that she'll have no choice but to embarrass herself. When they get to the club, the plan works accordingly and Gia finds herself racing to the bathroom. Luckily, Rocky (Linda's boyfriend) lends her a hand and a catastrophe is averted.
Later that night, in the room, Gia finds the note addressed to her from Bender and she and Bella have an argument about the supposed trash-talking. This ends with Bella selfishly explaining the problems she has with her cousin and Gia going to bed angry.
8. After losing her phone for most of the novel, where does Gia discover she accidentally left it?

Answer: In a medicine cabinet

The next morning, Gia and Bella are evicted from their hotel room after several complaints from adjacent rooms. With nowhere to go they head back to their shorehouse to find that they've been locked out. As soon as Stanley comes by with the keys, Bella goes to pack and Stanley explains how Maria didn't like his new look. Gia finds her cell in the bathroom and gets a call from Frankie who explains that he heard she and Rocky got together in the bathroom at the bar. Before she can explain, he hangs up. Then they notice their car was stolen. As everything in her life starts to come crashing down, that's the moment her mother and aunt (Bella's mother) drive up for a visit.
While Gia and her mother go inside, Bella and her mother drive to her work for a talk. This is when Bella discovers that the family is selling their deli to the Olive Garden for a large sum of money and that her parents are retiring. They want Bella to be well-off, so they're going to pay for a fair bit of her tuition. Bella is shocked that she'd been so wrong about everything, but she realizes her parents have always been there for her. When her mom spots Tony in the distance, Bella introduces him and gets told that they'd make a great couple.
On the beach, Gia and her mom discuss the issues surrounding their family and Gia realizes that her mom was the one who broke up with her dad and not the other way around. Her mom simply wasn't happy in her relationship with him anymore and they went their separate ways. Her mom also says that she found a new man and that they've been dating all summer. Gia feels as though weights have been lifted off her shoulders.
Everyone gathers at Tantastic for a tanning session and margaritas and both Gia and Bella admit that they were wrong and make up. They decide that in order to meet guys who aren't idiots, they'll have a house party the following night.
9. Who 'stole' Bella's car?

Answer: Tony

It turns out that Tony was the one to take the car, but he did it so that his grandfather would help him repair it. This way, he could return it in better shape. He just forgot to tell her. While discussing Bella with his grandparents, he realizes how much he really does like her.
At the party, nearly everyone shows up and the girls' plan goes off without a hitch. Maria is shocked when Stanley shows up with a date and she realizes that she still has feelings for him. When they hit the dance floor, she makes a point of trying to win him back. Gia dances with Rocky, Linda's boyfriend, and he reveals that the girls put laxatives in her Jell-o shots at the bar. Bella and Tony also find out that Ed and Bender have been after her for their 'Rule of Ten' game and she vows to get revenge on them. Before any of this can happen, Gia's steroid-enhanced ex from the previous week shows up and becomes furious when he realizes that Gia no longer has feelings for him. He punches through a wall and throws someone out a window before the police show up. Bella takes this time to file a report on her stolen car as well.
The girls decide to enact their vendetta plans at Tantastic where Gia tricks Linda and Janey into geting tan treatments. It isn't until the two mean girls get home that they realize they've been duped; Gia and Bella wrote demeaning things on their bodies using tan-tags (including 'HATER', 'JELL-O SHOT SPIKER', and 'NEEDS GRANNY PANTIES'). The girls rush to Gia and Bella's house.
Frankie finds out what really happened at the club between Gia and Rocky and plans to call her, but before he does he finds footage of the girls' catfight on Youtube. This ends with the girls being hauled off to Seaside County Jail.
10. In the end, Gia and Bella decide to stay in Seaside Heights with their boyfriends.

Answer: False

In jail, Bella and Gia treat themselves to sandwiches and coffee offered by the cops while the other two girls mope, whine, and try to argue. Gia realizes that her goal is to be happy in life by making others happy and she tries to make amends before they're released on bail (despite the fact that Linda and Janey want nothing to do with her). It turns out Frankie is the one getting them out of jail and he drives them back to the shorehouse. Gia stays in the car and they go back to his place until Bella announces that their second plan is in action.
Showing up at the Beachcomber Bar, Bella plays dumb to the fact that Ed and Bender know each other and decides to share drinks with them. When the time is right, she invites them back to the shore house, has them strip down, and then when the time is right Tony (and others) come into the room and shoot them with a paintball gun to scare them away from Jersey for good.
That night, after a victory in her favor, Bella and Tony discuss her leaving in three days and they come to the conclusion that she should stay with him in Jersey so that they can get their own place. She'll go to school at Rutgers rather than NYU and they'll be happy together. She agrees with this plan.
On her last night at the shore, Gia goes on a date with Frankie that actually becomes a double date with Frankie's twin brother (and his fiancee). It turns out that because Frankie fell for Gia, he gave the blessing to his brother. Although Gia is given the offer to stay in Jersey with Frankie she decides that she needs to make things right with her father first and announces her plans to live in Philadelphia until she can make amends. When she's done, though, she vows to come back to be with Frankie.
On the last day, Tony returns Bella's car in better shape than ever and she tells him that she's decided to go back to New York after all because it's been her dream to go to NYU. The both decide it's for the best and that they'll keep in touch. Both girls leave Seaside Heights until next summer and realize that the summer will leave them with the fondest memories and a stronger friendship.
