The crowd of people wanting to destroy Jewish property had been revved up by Mr Parrish and his gang of criminals. Goldberg tells the crowd a story about a foreman called Fartbelly, and wins the crowd over.

2. What is the name of the drink that the terrorists (Cohn, Meyer and Guiliani) offer Bill when he and Goldberg are in Amsterdam?

Answer: Schnapps

The terrorists gave Bill far too much of the drink, and he remembered things in blotches for the rest of the day. Goldberg was very angry with him for letting them talk to him without arguing.

3. What is Sally's middle name?

Answer: Beatrice

We see this several times throughout the book, on the summons to court for divorce, and in the marriage register.

4. What were the names of the two footmen in the Tzaddick's house?

Answer: John and Alfred

Alfred grabs Sally A.K.A. Louisa from behind when she is listening at the door of a conference in the Tzaddick's room. Sally gives herself away by acting ruffled and indignant instead of wearily contemptuous, and is forced to spin Alfred a tale about her cousin Lucy, and getting even with Michelet, who had gotten her pregnant.

May and Matthew are the children of Nick and Rosa, two of Sally's oldest friends. Matthew is named after Nick's dead twin brother, but we don't learn who May is named after.

This is an easy one. It is mentioned several times in the book that Sally's real name is Veronica Beatrice Lockhart, she is only called Sally because, when she was Harriet's age, she insisted on being called Sally, and wouldn't answer to anything else.
